Yeah, cumpton is out. I did used to daydream on buying a house in a small town, which I could technically do, but it wouldn't leave me with much and I no longer want to do that anyway considering certain trends. I hear dicey things about the Kankakee-Bour...bourbo..uhhh metro but I was even thinking there. I know they have plenty of Mexican food. But I was mostly thinking a Joliet, Aurora, Elgin, what have you. Ready access to the country would be nice but not the kind where I'm going to be chased by dogs half the time.

I see 400s every once in a while but with some catches. 500s is not unusual in Central IL for simple but not terrible digs. Maybe everybody is moving to Alabamy too. Folks love their sun belts.

No desire to buy another vehicle let alone live out of one. I pretty much have PTSD and probably several health conditions from living here. I want some good sleep and some good showers. Tuckson is a place everybody moves to though. You'll be down to one glass of water for everybody and half of California and Chicago and New York will still move there for the vibes or whatever. It's not gangbusters but I do see places on craigs that would be fine for a year, just nothing that makes one place a lot more attractive than another. I do gravitate towards some place significantly bigger though.

I hope you find an alternative to wrenching but Paul McCartney and half of Tuxson is leaving you their estate from what I've heard. :cop:

The only ALT i want is to not work anymore. As far as work goes it is what it is and on the plus side I literally have the coolest and nicest boss a person could ever ask for, I mean seriously he is almost too nice. If my estates for some reason didn't pan out then I'm gonna have a massive yard sale and be a vanlyfer. I'm just glad I'm not 30 something....as fucked as we got it think how much worse it's gonna get.

Yeah. That’s super close to me. That’s a reasonable rate for a small landlord-occupied building where the owner doesn’t want to deal with the agents/brokers/fair housing concerns. The biggest catch is that Gladstone and Jefferson Parks are full of cops because this is where cops live on the north side. It’s a mile and a half to the blue line, which isn’t bad except when the weather is shit—but there’s a fancy new Milwaukee Max bus line that runs over there that I’ve not taken. It’s not the most glamorous part of Chicago, but would be worth a look.

I can also keep a lookout for local “for rent” signs here as the best apartment deals are often call a number from a sign in the window/yard situations.

why do they hate dogs? I pay *just recently before it was always 675) 695 a month for the Tsson home with huge backyard/non crack /meth location next to Lind Rondstats old home but then again if this was a new listing it'd probably be 1600 now.
Why are they hung up on savings and credit score? How about past rental history...seems like that would be a better indicator or perhaps that info takes too much effort on their part? Easier to pull a credit check?

CU is one of the few non-Chicago-orbiting areas of the state that’s growing, if I recall. There seems to be a fair amount of new construction happening and in general the overall vibe is positively vibrant compared to, say, Charleston or even the south suburbs where I’m from where the road are now 90% pothole and every other building is a boarded up Subway.

I'd probably have to drive to different locals and the Jeecury gets 12 mpg in town plus I would have to battle Michigan and California and Ohio drivers in the blistering desert sun. if the gig economy demands my time though it would be an idea. I would excel at it since all dogs love me and i am a friend to the dog kingdom

Ohio is in an extra shitty state of being currently, mostly for reasons that would require discussion in that other forum :embarrassed:, but especially because you'd like to get away from having a car. If you want to get anywhere in Ohio outside of the urban centers of Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, or Cleveland, a car is necessity. This state hates public transportation, housing costs are sharply on the rise, and Intel is building a new chip manufacturing center outside of Columbus, so a lot of big deals that will end up in limbo for decades are inevitable.

Yeah, I looked on streetview and figured the same but I wouldn't object if it was suitable. A separate building would be nice even if it was pretty modest, as well as one I could get a bike in and out of with no fuss.
