Not trying to sound all "Old Man... how's that heat treatin' ya..." but shiiiiit.

Yesterday was mid 90's, air advisory, "feels like 105"... and when I had to walk from my Truck to a building across blacktop mid-day... it was like walking across hot coals! The heat coming off the pavement was like a hot blast furnace.

I waited until dusk to use the riding mower and mow only the front half of my lawn... It was still nearly 90 and I was dripping with sweat, just from sitting and steering. :embarrassed:

We did our grocery shopping early and spent the rest of the day inside. Prolly do that today, too. Not used to this humidity yet - makes me miss NorCal!

this is like the DdBob batsignal
Thank you for making me laugh Yabba...I literally was thinking the same thing as I read your reply....spot on !

but yest total batsignal / trigger here so.....

"feels like 105".....This is like every day in Tucson from June to October for any of you who may not know :embarrassed:

Down here it's easy to figure the temperature (no fancy maths or zodiac sign deciphering needed) just look at the ambient temperature and that is what you get.....here anyway ;cop: until July then we can start doing scientic calculations to add a few degrees of accuweather *realfeel*

BTW fwiw the local news had a thing yesterday advising taking dogs on walks early (i do that year round except Brownie the work dog goes on short walks mid day but we stay in shade as much as we can and then he goes back into the office which has like 75 AC cranked on)...anyway they showed asphalt surface temps of 115. I personally think it's much hotter because sometimes you feel it come through your shoes plus if you lay a metal object in the sun it's redhot in less than 3 minutes....ok I'm done :hippie:

FWIW, it hit 99 here yesterday according to my weather app, with a "feels like" of 109. Today's supposed to be almost as bad, but we're supposed to get some rain tonight which will cool things off a bit.

I finally turned on the AC this morning for the first time this year

A previous employer had locations I would have to travel to in Phoenix, Texas, Mobile Alabama, and Fucked by a Scorpion Texas. :embarrassed:

I asked someone... "can't you guys build plants in slightly more hospitable locations.... like the sunny side of venus... or in an active volcano?"

Nobody wants to hear at work "Be careful when you open that computer panel... the scorpions and rattlesnakes often climb inside to get away from the sun."

:gah:

We had a very hot weekend and Monday, but it cooled off nicely yesterday (81). Today is nice as well. Supposed to crank up into the 90s again soon. Because of the lower humidity, it's not as bad - BUT - our new house has no AC. We are going to give it a shot this summer with just fans and see how it goes. We are pretty close to the mountains so it cools off pretty quick when the sun goes down.

This "feels like" bullshit is bullshit. I've been in the Mojave, I've been in Baker, CA. where the world's largest thermometer told me it was 107 and it didn't feel like this. People in the desert say, "It's a dry heat" and that's the thing. There's a difference between 105 and 10% humidity and 105 and 75% humidity. I mean it sucks when you have to wring the air out before you can breathe it. We get some relief about 5 this afternoon though. The forecast calls for severe thunderstorms with large hail and possible tornados. Yea.

We currently have two window units for the bedroom & 'office' then a free-standing unit for the living room and they struggle to keep up in the peak summer temps.
Next place is going to have central air and I'm definitely looking forward to it and no longer doing the AC unit hokey-pokey

115 on asphalt in the sun in hot summer temps is definitely way low. I've seen 90 air temp = ~140 asphalt temp in the sun

(also I have a friend who's done badwater and when the air temp was ~120, the asphalt temp was measured at 190; that's obviously more extreme than where most people are walking their dogs, but still)

I worked on my pool deck yesterday evening for a few hours and I'm getting ready to go back at it today. Lots of rotten boards to replace.

I bitch so much about cold weather I figure I have no right to complain about heat.

Yup... That's part of where that "Air Quality Alert" came from yesterday and today....

Our humidity yesterday was a LOW of 47%.... and a high of 78.5%.

When you are that close to 80% humidity, the air feels like boiling jello.

Well, we've got our first tornado. On the ground by Tomah heading towards Green Bay. Another appears to be forming on a path that goes through where my grand daughter is staying. Now third forming near Richland Center that would track towards me. Yea, my phone just told me to go hide in the basement. I guess that means grab my camera and head outside.

Here in N Alabama it’s hot and humid AF. Currently 97 and gotta be approaching 90% humidity. You can’t stand still outside for over a minute without breaking a sweat. Currently under heat advisory till 5pm tomorrow. This is as bad as I’ve ever seen it. Because of the extreme high humidity it’s worse than a normal 100 deg day in late July.
