Give me something to watch on Netflix

The scene in the motel?

Ha! Yes. You know it. :thu: With the movie star guy. That's just the freakiest thing I've ever seen in a TV show. I've been trying to think of something freakier, and I can't think of anything to top it.

It's super fucking wierd. There's a scene in episode 4 that is one of the most far out things I've ever watched.

Well now I'm intrigued, this coming from Motorik

How does it compare in weirdness to something like Twin Peaks or Legion? Those were pretty weird for TV. Weirder?

More horror than either of those. It's Lynchian, I'd say Mulholland Drive rather than Twin Peaks, but goes deranged mindbendy Legion-ish as it progresses. Not wanting to spoil the surprise, but the scene Micwalt and I are talking about is like an ultra Cronenberg body horror thing.

I agree with that assessment! I watched the whole scene with my mouth agape. Never seen anything like it.

Well, the wife and I started watching it last night. We are hooked. Guess I'll just fast-forward during the gory scenes.

Really glad you and your wife gave it a go and are enjoying it! It's a crazy show, but it hooked me too within an episode. :thu:

Finished Cherry Flavor last night. The ending was a bit disappointing, but all in all an enjoyable ride.

The ending was a bit anticlimactic. Are they going to make more? It certainly seems that way, it didn't give satisfying closure, it just kinda ended.

Still a super weird, enjoyable journey.

The rotoscoping suits the show perfectly, it was a great choice.

There was an adaptation of Philip K. Dick's A Scanner Darkly starring Keanu Reeves that was all rotoscoped, it had that uncanny, trippy vibe too.

I always find that technique has me looking at the line art and the technical aspects and paying less attention to the story. It sure looks cool, but just a little distracting to me.

I'm in the middle of Brand New Cherry Flavor right now. It's definitely as described in the previous posts. So far I like it.

Beckett is mildly entertaining. Very strong 70's conspiracy thriller vibe, though it it is quite silly.

Ok, I'm going to have to say it: the last episode of Cherry was a let down. Bora, Lisa, and Mary were dull. The episode just seemed to lack the imagination and vibrancy that the rest of the episodes had.

Has anyone read the book?

I haven't, but someone on r/television said the point the show ends on is only about 1/10 of the way through the novel! The last episode was definitely anti-climactic and not up to the standard of the other episodes. The show is billed as a mini-series, but I wonder do they hope to make more?
