How about getting her back into something she used to love to do. You mentioned she likes cooking, but many utensils are too close to the above mentioned avoidance items.
So, what might she miss that she used to love doing? (not including past romances)

I once got Mrs D a certificate to a local spa for a half day of pampering (manicure/pedicure/facial/massage/lunch). She loved it.
