She sounds like a keeper. In that case, something for the kitchen does sound more like a plan. I like Mrs. P's camera suggestion as well.
 
speaking from experience here, a toilet brush is also a very, very bad idea.

you got any carpentry skills?
maybe build her a spice rack or something like that for the kitchen?

if all else fails, an envelope full of money would probably do the trick
 
How about getting her back into something she used to love to do. You mentioned she likes cooking, but many utensils are too close to the above mentioned avoidance items.

So, what might she miss that she used to love doing? (not including past romances)

Gift certificate to a local cooking supply store or Williams-Sonoma?

I once got Mrs D a certificate to a local spa for a half day of pampering (manicure/pedicure/facial/massage/lunch). She loved it.
 
Let's get down to it... Do you really love her, or is this a challenged relationship? Because, I say that a birthday is one of the best times to show someone you don't love them...

Spa might be an idea, although that's what I got her for Valentine's Day. Williams Sonoma might be a possibility.

I've decided. I got her a 60 minute deep tissue massage at her favorite salon, a $100 Williams-Sonoma gift card (nice, Dave), dinner at a nice restaurant, a 6-pack of her favorite stout and the new Bon Iver album. Thanks errbody!
 
Oh and I'm taking her on a winery tour that weekend. Forgot about that one, it was a Groupon deal a while back. :embarrassed:
