Musically.

Undercurrent is a fine album, but not a fav. If I want to hear a Bill Evans duet album, I usually go for the two Tony Bennett records.

and why listen to those when there's the Bill Evans Trio with Scott LaFaro?

Because they’re fucking awesome.

Ditto for The Montreux Concert and Another Time, both with his trio with Eddie Gomez and Jack DeJohnette.

And some of those posthumous live recordings with Marc Johnson and Joe LaBarbera — Turn Out the Stars, The Parks Concert, The Last Waltz — are pretty fucking great too, in a totally different kinda way, with a version of Evans that is anxious, frenzied, and deeply influenced by cocaine.

But you know all of this.

just curious, if you're a fan of Jack DeJohnette, have you ever checked out "80/81" Pat Metheny with Jack on drums?

Yes. Along with Song X (which also features DeJohnette) and Rejoicing, it’s one of Metheny’s best records from the 80s, and pretty much the only ones that I still listen to. And his recording of Electric Counterpoint too, actually, from Steve Reich’s Different Trains.

DeJohnette has had a great career.
