I do. Sometimes a name comes to me, sometimes it doesn't. My Guild D-25 is Maggie, one Peavey T-60 is Bertha (the Grateful Dead song, for some reason), the other one is Lydia (it is covered in autographs, hence tattoos, hence "Lydia o Lydia you encyclopedia, Lydia the tattoo'd lady...), and the Guild 12 string is Sandy (as in Sandy Denny). Guitars always feel quasi alive to me.

Given that my Spanish (such as it is) is entirely self-taught, your guess is as good as mine at to why the guitar is female in the Romance languages. The overall shape may have something to do with it. As old as I am, I wasn't actually present when those languages evolved to their current states.
