Death Valley camping (pics.)

I went to Death Valley for four days. We stayed at Furnace Creek, ventured out to various sites in the park, such as Rhyolite, Dante's Peak, etc. Also went to Beatty, which I'd been to before interestingly enough on the drive from Florida to California.

It's a lot of fun. You could easily spend a few more days there than I did. The Furnace Creek area has a pool, golf course (WTF? never would have imagined that,) a couple of restaurants, pool, and showers. So even if you're camping it's not that rough. Weather this time of year is great, 80s in the day and maybe high 40s at night. I'd like to see more of it another time, the park has numerous other treks we simply didn't have the time for.

What really made it fun was being with a couple of friends who have been going there since 1983, and in turn they know another group who comes at the same time. At campfire every night these two brothers (one of which is very well known in contra dancing / folk dance calling circles) are brilliantly talented multi instrumentalists and along with other people played really great music every night from about 7 pm to 10 pm.

Great pics! I've heard that Death Valley is a great place to go hunting for meteorites.

Love the stark contrast in landscape in these pictures.

What camera you got?

Funny enough, these were all simply taken with an iPhone 6+. I have a "real" camera with prime lenses and all that I never bother taking anywhere.

Phones these days take a pretty decent picture, when there's actually light. Night time I wish I had a real camera with me.

Did you get attacked by walking rocks?

On a serious note, I heard that just about a week ago or so the valley was in full bloom, flower-wise. I didn't realize that Death Valley had wildflowers. I thought it is pretty barren :embarrassed:

Very cool.

I was going to say something like "Gee, it looks pretty desolate out there", but I guess that's why it's called Death Valley, lol.

Deebo will be pleased you went to Death Valley and played with your iThing.

*spits*

That's true ! Next month I'm due to upgrade my iThingy and I'll be going the i6 plus or whatever it's called, the one with the 12 mp camera. Then I should be able to keep my iThingy for a good four years since I still d0 the two year contract (i don't feel the need to upgrade every year), only doing it this time cuz my eyes suck and Ineed larger screen but I don't want the "practically" iPad sized Ithing ...too big

Anyway Death valley rocks, I'm going back one of these days. You can't really appreciate the vastness of the valley until you visit but it's freeking huge, from the valley foor (below sea level) those mountains (some as high as 11,000ft but most around 7-8 are absolutely monstrous! Also people don't realise how cold the desert gets. When I went about two days after Christmas it never got higher than 42 degrees and it got down to about 14 degrees at night

The GF just got whatever the newest big ithingy is. It's huge. I wouldn't mind having one if I always had a purse or bag, to stick it in, but there's no way it will fit in a pocket.

Ok, I get that the Lego chick has square boobs, but what's that other protrusion down around her crotch area supposed to be?

Way back, before the '90s, women used to grow hair down there...

BTW -- Love Death Valley in Jan-March. Don't love it so much April - Oct...
