Cobra Kai

When it works, it works really well. Parts of Star Wars and Cobra Kai come to mind, probably because it is fan fiction and it works for me because I would be a fan. The whole Vietnam thing here just felt forced to me.

What are the flashbacks in Star Wars? I’m having a blank.

episode 1, 2, and 3

Ah, gotcha. I think that prequels are a whole other thing. Granted, must of them suck too. But I’m speaking specifically about pausing the narrative to switch to “now, many years ago earlier...”

The Kill Bill movies were a fine example of how to do that without becoming boring.

Since she always brought it up on the show, I always thought a dark, on the streets, back-story called "Phebes" would be a good idea for Phoebe pre-Friends timeline.

The creaping buzz kill of any logic whatsoever starts killing this starting the second half of season two. This is just getting ridiculous.

Half way through season three.

These discussions are getting downright silly. Does Cobra Kai stand up to analytical deconstruction? No,. Is Cobra Kai enjoyable entertainment of a nostalgic bent? Hell yeah!

(teenage karate enthusiasts nearly murder one another and destroy hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of public and personal property)

Adults: We could call the cops, but... this is something that can only be solved with... MORE KARATE!!!

But yeah. Don’t fuck with Karate Kid logic. You enjoy the ride.

I mean yeah, but he’s got a point though, it worked better for the first 2 and maybe a half seasons

I actually enjoyed the 3rd season more than the 2nd, in spite of the fact that the flashback scenes and the Okinawa scenes were dead weight.
