Cobra Kai

OK with the 118 heat and fires this weekend, I binge watched a bunch of episodes. Interesting, I like it.

BTW - Golf 'N Stuff, the same one, was my high school hang out.
We used to have a Golf-n-Stuff here in Tucson too. I guess it was a chain because we had another miniture Golf place too that was for sure locally owned but Golf n Stuff was huge, had the bumper boats, the little race cars, batting cages, all the video games and also that bowling game thing. I had a birthday party there once.

Watched series 1 and 2 when they were free on Youtube.

It has its ups and downs but its a good series. The blond guy is the best in it

Wife and I watched both seasons over a few days last week. I loved it. Season 2 finale with Cruel Summer and then the Cruel Summer cover at the very end, moving.
Also, Sam is 24. They should probably move season 3 along. She's supposed to be 16.

I just started season 1 yesterday and will finish it tonight. I was pleasantly surprised even though it was predictable.

Thought Season 3 was the best so far. The backstory on Kreese was well done.

I see what they were trying to do, but thought it was poorly executed. I think I would’ve been ok with him being a bad guy just because he’s a dick and all the Vietnam stuff was stuff he made up to make himself seem more badass to kids.

Ehh, that would've seemed corny and too easy to me. I liked the darker angle.

Just finished season 3.

I'm tired of every movie/tv show going back and showing the back story of the bad guys, to show at one time, they were good, then something happened. I would have been fine just leaving Kreese a dick with no story.

I hate flashbacks 99% of the time. Especially in a series. It’s lazy sloppy amateurish writing, and it usually just makes me think of fan fiction. Almost everything that matters should be gathered from hints and other non-explicit info.

‘Show’ versus ‘tell’.

I get especially irritated with shows that have flashback scenes as a part of their DNA and structure.

When it works, it works really well. Parts of Star Wars and Cobra Kai come to mind, probably because it is fan fiction and it works for me because I would be a fan. The whole Vietnam thing here just felt forced to me.
