This mostly. A clip on tuner wouldn't work for me plus if I needed one for the Buzz Fieten intonation on my Suhr guitars I don't know of one that could be programmed with the offests.I prefer a pedal. Because of my playing style and the style of music I play, I often need to check my tuning very quickly, and I only get the chance to wander back to my amp two or three times in a set. We frequently don't even actually break between songs, it's straight from one into the next, so I'd need to leave a clip on on the headstock, which wouldn't work well for other reasons (jumping around, banging the crash cymbal with the headstock, etc.)
If I played in a band that kept a less hectic pace and had a calmer stage demeanor, I'd go for a clip on in a second.

I used a clip on because my guitars (mostly) didn't plug in. I refuse to play with the tuner clipped on the guitar, though. Now my two acoustic/electrics have built-in tuners; I continue with the clip-on for my acoustic and banjo. I am considering a pedal tuner for the electric, though.
I didn't vote in the poll because I hate to see it on the headstock, but don't stomp it.![]()

I don't care what other folks do. I just prefer my headstock clear of capos and tuners. I live my life and let others live theirs.![]()
But not necessarily on the headstock during a performance. All headstock tuners are beautiful.
