Carvin guitars are no more?!?

Back in the 80s when I first started playing, I wanted a Carvin so bad. I couldn't wait for their catalog to arrive every few months. I honestly don't think I have ever played one though.

Here is the one for Wok :)

I have to be honest, i wouldnt mind owning that

As far as I can tell as a casual observer, this is mostly a name change...their ugly ass guitars will still exist, just under the Kiesel brand, no?

I've played a handful of used ones over the years. Decent guitars but none that compelled me to make a purchase.
My understanding of it was the other way around. The name's going to stay the same but the Kiesels will be handling making them as a spun off company. Kiesel's been in charge of making them the past several years anyway.

I think the big change we'll see is the different domain for the website. LOL

Basically.
Kiesel is Carvin in terms of original owners family.
According to what they are being told on the Carvin bbs, When you order an existing model, you can choose either name on the HS.
If you order the newer designs, they will be Keisel branded.

Same factory, but the Keisel stuff will be the more radical changes. (Almost Charvel/Jackson back in the day.)

I just watched the Carvin announcement and the gist is that they are just creating a new brand name based on their original brand/family name.

Apparently gandpa had to change the name of the company from Kiesel to Carvin to get out of some dealer contracts. The Kiesels have run Kiesel/Carvin from the get-go. Now they are splitting the guitars out under the Kiesel name, retaining the Carvin brand & adding the Kiesel brand and mfg all guitars in the same place they've been made. Sounds like you can get a standard Carvin model as either a Carvin or a Kiesel but the Kiesel will have different pickups/hardware. Their custom shop stuff will be under the Kiesel brand going forward.

This was my experience exactly. They looked like they were rock solid guitars. I can't say I've ever played one. Would still like to try one sometime.

So the Carvin brand name will still be used for guitars?

Kiesel? I never heard of them but I presume they are a boutique builder.

Look two posts up from yours... Kiesel=carvin, they are the family that owns and runs carvin

I get that but the brand name Kiesel is unknown to me.

Henry Juszkiewicz owns Gibson but he isn't changing the company name to Juszkiewicz Guitars.

Anyway, Carvin is a very small player in the guitar market. They wouldn't be missed if they disappeared.

The Kiesel name actually pre-dates Carvin. "Carvin" is actually a combination of the names of Lowell Kiesel's two oldest sons, Carson and Gavin.

I love the look of Carvin's single cutaway guitars but I've always been hesitant about buying because you can't really try it first.

I have a Carvin Legacy 3 amp, and it's just incredible. Glad to hear that's not going away. As far as the guitars, it's a dumb move. I've only played a couple Carvins, but they were amazing guitars.
