Are you losing your musical, spiritual, energy?

Help!I'maRock! You mean you weren't depicting the benefits of being in a band with you, or your next door neighbour, and that you aren't offering a custom blown bong? Teaser... not wheezer!

My reference to hydra is a historic one, two different Mediterranean cultures having myths about the same character. Our modern term hydro obviously refers to the same high tech. We'll see if there's more input and interest.

Knowing what I know about it, all that electricity, I still can wonder where all the human and amplifier energy goes when you start vibrating all those notes out of thin air, and propel them all pumped up. Just like scientists still can't figure out where the electrical energy of your brain and body goes when you pass away. It goes somewhere.

And no... I'm not going to make any jokes about how many dead people does it take to turn a light bulb on.

What do you call 25 multi-millionaires sitting around watching a Stanley Cup game on t.v.?
The Toronto Maple Leafs.
What do you call 2.5 million people watching a Stanley Cup game on t.v.?
Toronto Maple Leaf fans.
That's almost a spiritual topic for a lot of people around here.

John,

you said before that all of your stuff is locked up and that you post from wherever you can. where have you been residing for the past 2 months?

Help!I'maRock! Thanks for the personal question. I actually had to stop and decide if I wanted to make this public, this being a very eventful year in Welland, the municipal elections. I got hit hard right away, even before I picked up the nomination papers. I've been a protest candidate, and the only one who received a letter from The House of Commons in Ottawa, commending me and asking to forward my ideas for the abandoned, bypassed Welland Canal that runs through Welland.

As a young musician who talked to too many people who got beaten, drug-overdosed and gang-raped by a large, local criminal family, some now Hell's Angels club house owners, president, vice-president, and government grant recipients, my life has been made to suffer, by their terms. That's a long story, and there's interest from documentary makers. I receive provincial media exposure.

A former mayor who blames me for bringing her and a lot of people down, because I publicly talked and printed about her own criminal ward 3 biker connections, was originally a nurse at The Welland Hospital.

That's the background. You need that to understand why.

Nurses from The Welland Hospital started visiting Uncle Bill, an 83 year old man, not on medication, when I wasn't there. I helped reconcile Uncle Bill with his niece, a 55 year old woman who never had a boyfriend or job, and helped her move in after her mother died, part of my surrogate brother promise. While this was the situation, someone living down the street who said they were married into this crime family, started making problems. It was obvious he was watching the house, everything I was doing outside was getting wrecked when I wasn't there. Police thought so too, and after many complaints, all minor, they visited him.

When the niece was hospitalized, nurses from The Welland Hospital started showing up, when I wasn't there, or when I was way out in the backyard in the garage, getting Uncle Bill to sign different papers, and suddenly all kinds of medical supplies were showing up one day, and being taken out the next, all billed to Uncle Bill. I called it Billville. One day I came home and Uncle Bill was down, looking sad. He had to go to the bathroom in his clothes and sit there, unable to change. It turned out nurses from The Welland Hospital had put on "diapers" that took two people to put on or take off. You couldn't even move them aside at the groin, if you had too. I phoned to complain and that got changed. There's way more to this story, but you can see what I mean.

When none of this was getting me forced out, Uncle Bill agreeing with me, they started complaining to the police about me stealing money, doing and dealing drugs, hitting Uncle Bill, restraining him, keeping him from answering the phone, etc, lotsa different complaints. Neighbors were getting angry. Even after all of that was cleared, the head nurse came with a police officer to say I was eating his Meals on Wheels.

Police say there's an investigation, but The Ministry of The Attorney General got ahold of me, and said I had to leave. That's going outside of the city to provincial. That was delayed, but efforts against me piled up and I had to leave, and they took Uncle Bill away to the hospital, no room in the retirement centers. I feel worse for him than myself.

While I was standing on the sidewalk with another neighbour, the next neighbour came over, someone I turned on to scrap metal deals before he moved in here, and he offered to let me stay in an unfinished apartment cheaply, using another for storage, and using a heated garage as a sign shop. The next day a back building tenant of his got five traffic tickets while riding his unregulated electric bicycle. No insurance, no driver's license, no registration, and traffic violations, the same tickets I got driving a properly identified car, a '69 Ford Custom, down a back road, driving to a church on a Sunday morning to visit the pastor and his wife, parents of the guy who sold me the car.

I was still staying, but the next day, moving apartment stuff from his storage to my room, he got a phone call that scared him, and he said I had to leave in five minutes, 8:30 on a Sunday night.

I went to the local shelter, bumping into master photographer Theis Bogner who was loading his trunk behind his location. He made the two video demonstrations of my guitar that I'm still online with. At least I could tell him my video plans had to be put on hold. I stayed at the shelter for the full thirty days, getting sick right away, coughing and spitting up blood.

While going to shop I bumped into a friend from a church I used to attend, and he came to the shelter to visit, and I went to his house, and he offered me a house his daughter and son-in-law moved out of, fixing it up and painting it to be sold. That's where I'm at now.

This has been a strange experience for me. Humbling, for sure, but not much. It's like being on the road, having my own clothes, just not my guitar and amp with effects sitting in a bar. They never sat around in bars in Welland anyway, being a victim of this crime family right away and getting away from Welland when I was young.

This is really making me a talked about and wanting to be met person. Everyone knows I'm homeless and wants to offer me visits, work and now two gigs, just to help me out. My relationship with my surrogate family, an elderly woman and her daughter, has been usually misunderstood, if not misportrayed by all the propaganda against me. So now some old girlfriends and other women think I'm single again, so I'm catching new interest there.

This isn't the addition I was planning on, knowing I was going to catch some online this morning, but I wanted to be clear about what's happening to me and why. I miss my bicycle the most, getting away from Welland on long distance bike-hikes, sometimes two days.

The Minisitry of The Attorney General, the head, asked me to set up a file in a business so I can receive communiciations. That's what I'm doing here. I've got a friend with a business, a sign customer too, where I'm going to be locking my stuff up in his basement, with early to late seven days a week access hours, and lots of Italian cooking to sample.

Again, thanks for your personal question. It makes me feel better to get it out. Now I'll get into what I thought would extend this thread. Yeah... I like extended.

New Canadian research suggests that the brain fires differently when dealing with people of a different race and ethnicity. Previous research has shown people are less likely to feel connected to people outside their own ethnic groups, so scientists at The University of Toronto Scarborough set out to find out why.

Jennifer Gutsell, co-author of the study, says they found there is a basic difference in how people's brains react to those from other ethnic backgrounds. Observing someone of a different race produces significantly less motor-cortex activity than observing a person of one's own race. The trend is even more pronounced for participants who scored high on a test measuring subtle racism. The research explored the sensitivity of the "mirror-neuron-system" to race and ethnicity. Assistant professor Michael Inzlicht says the so-called mirror-neuron-system is thought to be a key building block for empathy by allowing people to "mirror" other people's actions and emotions.

The researchers had participants view a series of videos while hooked up to electroencephalograms. The participants - who were all white - watched simple videos in which men of different races picked up a glass and took a sip of water. Typically, when people observe others perform a simple task, their motor cortex region fires similarly to when they are performing the task themselves. However, the researchers found that participant's motor cortex was significantly less likely to fire when they watched the visible minority men perform the simple task. The study was published in The Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.

This has been a direct copy of an article in The Toronto Star, April 28th, 2010, the zero decade.

As most of the astute typists who use these forums would type, yeah... "birds of a feather flock together, yes, yes they do." lyrics from a Toronto band, Rough Trade.

I'm thinking the reporter got a little miffed, having to type the hyphens for mirror-neuron-system, so he got back by typing " - who were all white - watched" .
We're living in difficult typing times. Having to type hyphens almost made me not name my new invention a semi-solid-body.
It's a good thing I'm used to it. I saw a guitar where the owner changed a pickup, making it a Les-less-Paul.

Don Henley seems to have lost some muscial spirit, saying in the new Rolling Stone that The Eagles new tour won't play any new songs, saying it never works anyway. Playing new songs used to work for him. Sounds like he's not happy with his new stuff, if he has any.

A few pages later Tom Petty is talking about mixing in some new stuff and how it elevates the concert experience. He also goes on about his guitarist playing more solos on his most recent album than he ever has, attributing it to his spending $350,000 to get a 1959 Les Paul for him, saying he's capturing those tones that first turned him on when he began. His guitarist is anguished about his excitement because while it sounds like he wants to, he's afraid to take it out in public.

jelloman! Sorry for forgetting Mike Campbell's name, but I can remember this Les Paul being described as a red model, only 250 or 350 sold one year. a 1965?

I've always been stuck in my own lefty world when it comes to guitars, although I have passed a few good deals along.

Les Pauls were not made in 1965. Production ceased in 1960 and in '61 the new SG shaped Les Paul was released in its place. Les didn't like it, and it simply became known as the SG in '62. Les Paul production did not start again until 1968.

it is most likely that Mike Campbell's guitar is a '59. that's the magic number for Les Pauls.

no apology necessary, john...Mike is one of my favorite players, a man of great taste and restraint, prefering to complement the song rather than showing off his skill set at every opportunity...truly one of the most under-rated and mis-understood guitar players today...

What you're typing about Mike Campbell is exactly what Tom Petty said, saying he's so used to his melodic playing he forgets what a great guitarist he is. But I disagree a little. The magic year for Les Pauls for me is '57.

I paid off my first Stratocaster on this date, May the 1st, 1970, a nice co-incidence, because it's my birthday. I put on my new, natural looking and tasteful graphics moose t-shirt and walked downtown, giving most people their first moose sighting of the year.

I stopped in at Central Music and caught some residual rock start moments. This new hair style and color must be working. Another guitarist and his wife thought I was 35, and that's not metric.

As far as a recent letter from The Attorney General indicates, I'll be accessing a former residence and retrieving my possessions, guitar, portable office, everything, just waiting to get it together again, in a few days.
