And now I jettison the diet soda and energy drinks from my life.

I'm making an effort to drink more water every day.

:thu:

I've got a 2l bottle of water I fill and take to work every day and I'll drink out of it throughout the day instead of refilling a smaller bottle I used to take.

By time I clock off, I've already had my recommended 8 glasses and any I drink on top of that is a bonus.

What about those five hour energy shots? They really work, and there's no crash.
I mean, they taste like fruit-flavored ass, but they work.

Energy drinks don't bother me, but is it just me, or do they all taste absolutely horrible?

maybe before gigs. It sucks being middle aged and having to play a 4 hour rock show on no sleep.

I used to drink one of those giant Red Bulls every morning on my way to work. I feel a ton better now that I've switched it up to coffee, but I'm sure once it gets hot out again I won't want coffee and will switch back to Red Bull. I gotta have something in the morning, between my family and trying to have a life, there just aren't enough hours in the day to get more than about 4 or 5 hours of sleep, especially in the summer.

I like your simplistic attitude, and agree... I don't even do the cream and sugar thing anymore...

Me neither. Although I do have a terrible weakness for iced drinks with cream and sugar and sweetness. I blame it on all those years of working at Starbucks.

my drummer swears by those things.
we work him pretty hard, as you can imagine, and he says they do the trick right nice.

the Coors Light thing made me

It's good that you're not having those crappy energy drinks anymore. Coffee or tea are fine in moderation (like anything else really), but I think the main thing to keep your energy levels up is drinking plenty of water and making sure you have a decent amount of fresh fruit and green vegetables every day. That did more for me personally than anything else.

This... Fresh salad in the middle of the day does wonders to boost your electrolytes and energy...

They do taste like ass!

Ugh. Can't stand coffee. Never got into energy drinks.

I drink diet coke but am trying to moderate my consumption of it. I tried to go cold turkey but man, now I know what junkies feel like when they go thru withdrawal.

I get the idea my gall bladder isn't too happy when I go nuts and have multiple diet cokes a day so I'm trying to keep it down to one in the morning and another later in the day and I'll try to get off that level too.

I never liked coffee, and after having to do mouth-to-mouth and CPR on a patient who just had coffee, the smell of it makes me want to hurl.

Working nights, energy drinks are a must for my aging body to stay awake. At least Monster makes a few decent flavors, like Assault, M-80, and Khaos.

After talking to a doctor about health, nutrition, etc.... I was stunned to find out how much SLEEP plays into all this. Your body does a lot of chemical processing while you sleep so going on 5 hours is contributing to your health issues twofold.

I know. Thderes no getting around that for the time being though,.

I don't think I could function without at least 8 hours of sleep a night... Sure, I have a kid that pretty much wakes up between 4 and 5 every morning, so I find myself hitting the sack by 8 PM pretty much every night, sometimes earlier... I usually end up with closer to 9 hours per night...

well, I usually get home from work at 9:30 or later every night and by that point in the day I haven't even seen my wife yet.

I wish I could. Between getting dinner around, being lazy and trying to figure out just who my kids are these days; not to mention trying to get them to eat, bathe and go to bed, I'm lucky to crash before about 11 most days. 4 am comes real damn quick when you went to bed at 11. Though she would likely disagree, I try to not shove all of the domestic suties onto my wife.

And I still even try to fit some reading, guitar playing and my one television show that I watch into that mess somewhere.

Ugh. Sooooo glad I took today off. I got to sleep in til about 7:30!

I have never had an energy drink or coffee and don't plan on taking that up. If I could kill the diet soda from my life, I would be all set.

I averaged 5 - 6 hours of sleep a night for the past 15 years or so... along with my sleep apnea... my health was suffering. Focus was horrible, weight gain, etc.

I don't know if you guys see a difference, but at work and home now that I'm sleeping at least 7 to 7 1/2 hours of sleep (sometimes even eight!! ) I find that I'm a little neater and more organized at home and work, and I am slightly less likely to "stress eat" and "boredom eat".
