And now I jettison the diet soda and energy drinks from my life.

ugh. I hate coffee but I'm sitting here with my first cup in a long time. It's never been a mystery that that stuff has been unhealthy to me but as I sat in the doctors office Saturday seeing my blood pressure being so high I did a little research yesterday and discovered that a person who drinks two NORMAL sized energy drinks a day can see their blood pressure rise 7-10%. And I've been drinking much more than that between the ginormous Diet Rockstars and Diet cokes trying to keep going on 4-5 hours sleep a night. Especially during the weekends where I wake up before 6am on Friday, work until I go to a gig that runs 9:30pm-1:30am, get home and asleep by 2:30 and up by 6am to go to work and repeat. Then try to be coherent for my family Sunday with a princely 6 hours of sleep.

I think that if I cut it out of my daily diet and replace with coffee my overall consuption of caffeine and chemicals will come down and I can have a regular sized energy drink before gigs to keep the energy up through show.

At some point I need to get more sleep but it's not going to happen this year.

Energy drinks should be avoided like the plague so good to hear you're dropping them Mark.

Mark, try a mocha. It's basically 1 shot espresso + a bunch of hot cocoa. spoonful of sugar, yo.

Those energy drink are shit. They are terrible for you, so is diet pop, but the energy drinks have to go.

energy drinks are what the terrorists want you to drink.
don't do it.

yer better off with a couple lines...
and that's sayin' something.

me, I likes my coffee the way I like my women.

ground up and in the freezer

and a mocha once in a blue moon won't hurt ya, just don't make it a daily thing.

FWIW if you can drink black tea, that has a decent amoutn of caffeine in it without making you jittery or crash and it also has some health benefits.

Plus it's got next to no calories and as someone's alreayd mentioned, you can try out a bunch of different flavours to find one you like.

The next thing is diet and exercise. Here we go with this shit again :markfacepalm:

I'll be making small steps over the holidays but I think that if I can find a gym that also has yoga classes and isn't too expensive or too far a drive I'll do that. I miss going to the gym but haven't been able to since my son was born and we opened the studio. Thats about the time that I physically fell apart. Every year I've been losing 30-40 lbs and then putting the right back on again as I get injured from running or get sick or whatever. if i can do Cardio on a stationary machine, some free weights and some Yoga I'd be a happy guy.

for what it's worth, i'm still fat, but i drink far less soda than i used to. mostly water, no sodium seltzer, and coffee. my main problem is portion control.

I'd like to get some weights myself...bulk up a bit.
I've stopped dropping weight, which is good.
I don't really have any to spare, y'see.
but I'm back up to around 140ish, which is my norm.
no idea what the hell was goin' on, as my lifestyle hadn't changed at all.

stress, maybe...

portion control due to stress is it for me.

yeah, I don't dig putting stuff in my coffee.
unless it's booze

Mark, I'm the opposite with stress & food.
I get stressed, I don't eat.
I do tend to smoke a lot more though.
and cigarettes are an appetite suppressant, so there ya go.

I don't have any issue giving up energy drinks because every time I have tried them, my heartbeat gets irregular, and it's a really freaky feeling... Me no dig...
