All of my guitars are freaking the eff out with the weather.

I can understand the issues with outdoor gigs, but don't the rest of you have air conditioning?

The humidity here is wonky enough that my Schecter baritone is getting buzzy. That guitar has a fat neck, a thick poly finish, and graphite reinforcing rods! The rest of my guitars had already been tweaked in the spring, so they aren’t shift much.

Well, I go from A/C to hot in the car to the venue and then into another either A/C environment. The studio yesterday can only run the A/C between takes because its too noisy to run while we're recording so the room goes up and down 30 degrees every 10 minutes or so.

WE have very dry weather in the winter, and very humid in the summer. With one notable exception I don't have any issues with stability.

Things work quite a bit differently in the Southwest: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evaporative_cooler

Further, in order for a swamp cooler to work properly you need ventilation -- a window or a door cracked is optimal. The outside air with zero humidity has to mix with the super moist air from the cooler.

Yeah, I'm aware of what a swamp cooler does. I also know that they aren't used very much anymore in newer applications.

As you say, this is true for newer homes and applications. However, in this state swamp coolers outnumber alternate methods by an enormous margin. And guess what I have?

The AC was off in my room at LMA all weekend.

At home, the house stays around 70 all summer, so they're pretty stable. My Emerald never shifts a bit. :embarrassed:

I'll be sure to mention to my landlord that the swamp cooler he installed three months ago isn't trendy enough.

Cheap ass

FWIW I do have some connection to the HVAC industry, and I know that an effort is underway to move away from swamp coolers.

I don't have AC, other than one I stuck in the bedroom window... You just don't need it here, really... Central heat, for sure...

AC at home.
AC in the car.
No AC in the keyboard player's garage, where we practice.

Time to find a new keyboard player... the cheap ass sonofabitch!

On a related note, the strat i took apart last week to swap pickguards and restring is all kinds of unhappy. This high heat and humidity combo all started the day after i set back up.

Since i have a new bridge coming for it any day now, i am just gonna leave it alone until i do that swap.

I was thinking about picking up one of those portable AC units, but one that would cover a 4-car garage is a little out of my price range.
