That's exactly what that facebook rant I was quoting from above devolved into. things about "liberal group think sheep" screaming in their faces and "jumping up and down on the corpses of victims" because this latest "fad" will make them look better. :messedup: Wow, if that's what they think the equal marriage proposal is about, then they will never, NEVER get it. :facepalm:

Yep! Just did this 2 days ago actually.
Family....he decided that certain groups of people were subhuman and the hatred went from there. He is GONE!
I did the fair thing, gave him 2 warnings, that just escalated things a LOT! Yup, GONE!

During the last election, true colors and ugliness was exposed, dropped over a dozen friends and family.
FB to me is a place to hang with guitar players and other cool people.
When someone rains on that parade, see ya.

Its ok though. I'm not in the "He who has the most friends wins" club. :)

I don't even mind having friends that I don't see eye to eye with (Hell, I count Blanchard as a friend and he plays a fucking banjo... :wink: ) but there are points where I sigh and begrudgingly think that nothing will help them see beyond their blinders.
 
I'm also intolerant of intolerance, up to and including lactose intolerance. Ain't nobody got time for that.

This is the funniest thing to me. And I've seen it from both sides of the isle so to speak. I think it is the nature of where we are with politics and any issue that ties to politics. It almost seems like you are looked down upon if you are not to the extreme left or right. Add the internet and you have a recipe for all sorts of ranting from the extreme ends of the political spectrum.

The thing about Facebook though is, exactly what you posted. People dont understand, or dont care, that their rants place them way off the reservation. So their view has been heard but they are now seen very differently by a lot of people. And some of the people I see doing this own small businesses or are in sales. I work for a local government and I am a realtor. Crazy Facebook rants can actually affect my day job and could certainly affect my real estate job. Who wants to work with a whacko? I'm not saying I'm not batshit crazy, I'm just keeping it on the down low. :embarrassed:
 
Tell me about it. I had to defriend a whole bunch of people over some Eagles v Steely Dan shit.

I'm starting to think facebook is okay. It's just people that suck. In that way it makes me regain my youth feeling like a 22 year old again. Sorta like Ginseng. hahaha

Now, I'm back off to battle that guy that likens homosexuals to zoophiles.
 
Wow. Most people I have as friends on Facebook just post funny cat videos or pictures of their lunch or Onion articles.
 
Look on the bright side, you'd probably rather find out from the safety and security of sitting behind your monitor that your friends are batshit crazy than have that kinda stuff spill out in real life. I appreciate the advance notice of their degraded mental condition.

Arguing about politics on the internet is about the most pointless thing anybody could ever do, so I don't pay much mind when FB friends rant. If it's something that I find really offensive I'll hide the post just so I don't have to look at it every time I scroll by.

When was the last time somebody changed their mind about a political issue because somebody else was yelling at them about their opinion ON THE INTERNET. I'm gonna go ahead and go with never. :lol:
 
Luckily I deleted my old facebook account about a year ago and now only accept friend requests from real friends and family. My pic is a little different than yours, but shares the same sentiment.

So very TRUE. I think sometimes people really think they are going to change someone's mind or do something great. It's the internet people. Let it go.

This is what shocks me the most. How can these people not understand that these rants can affect them in real life? There's at least one person that I decided not to do a music project with b/c of that stuff. Never mind the fact that probably every employer or potential client on earth these days who knows how to use a computer will look you up on Facebook as part of the screening process. How can people not be aware of this?
