pain is the sensation of weakness leaving the body

You guys have got to stop posting about excercise routines. Mrs. P will want to do all of them, and that means that I'll have to do them all with her. I'd really rather not have to spend 6 hours a day excercising after work.

So STOP IT!!!

I have always used the Marine Corps physical fitness guidelines as a fitness indicator.

3 miles in under 24 mins
80 situps in 2:embarrassed:0 mins.
at least 15 dead-hang pull-ups, and if you don't have a pullup bar, you can substitute 40 4 count push-ups.

That's one count, for every motion, so down is 1, back up is 2, back down is three, and back up is "1" repetition, repeat 40 times.

(yes you math wizards, that means you do 2 pushups for every 1 you get credit for.)

If you can accomplish these, you should find yourself is perfectly adequate conditioning.

For the running, an initial goal of 1.5 miles in under 13 mins is acceptable.

Damnit, I'm in.

I could sure use it, but I'm going to do it with my 10 year old if I can convince him.

NO, he's not a McDonalds fattie, quite the opposite.

The kid barely eats a thing. Seriously. Part of the problem is that he doesn't really smell anything, so most food is unappetizing. Doctors are out at this point, as he's already had 4 surgeries in his life (for other issues not related)and doesn't fancy having doctors shoving hardware into his nose anytime soon. He's skinny as hell and has no real muscle tone. He's going to middle school next year and he needs to bulk up some just to survive.

So I'm going to make him a deal of some sort (that he can win:)) where I'll pay him a combined total of a dollar a pound he increases, plus a dollar a pound I lose, if he does it with me and keeps everything on a spreadsheet. Something like that. I'll add in some walks with me and runs with his older brother the cross country runner, and hopefully it will increase his appetite along the way.

Wish us luck.

I was that skinny when I was 10, some kids just have really high metabolisms. However, cant hurt for either of you, right?

He eats 2 bowls of cereal, a bit of his lunch, maybe a few chicken nuggets. Some pasta if we're lucky. His favorite 'meal' is beef ramen. He burns that off easy, then he just runs himself out of gas.:(

But yeah, I'm hoping we both get something out of this. Maybe I can transfer the weight pound for pound directly to him. idn_smilie

i was a scrawny kid too. but i ate everything in sight.

my brother never eats anything. to the point where his body stopped producing testosterone before he hit 13. he's been on HGH treatments for a few years now. they work, but literally, the kid has Napoleon Complex. just doesn't produce testosterone on his own. he still only eats because he has to though.

the main reason i'm overweight is because i went from being a skinny kid who burns everything off, to being sedentary while still having the same appetite. over the past 2 years, i've been cutting down on fast food and high fat foods, but i still need to temper my appetite.

Thats a pretty good deal for all of you!

I was skinny like that until I was about 21. The beer I consumed after that filled me out a little bit.

I was 6' and about 140 when I graduated from high school.
