pain is the sensation of weakness leaving the body

Mrs T informed me that we will be doing the MS150 this year. First weekend in June. What does this mean? This means I gotta get myself in decent shape by then. If I can continue with my 5 pounds of loss a month till then, I will be at a good cycling weight for me. We've done it a few times in the past 7 or so years. We ride it on a tandem, so basically it's like riding with her on the handlebars for 150 milesbiggrin I'm not even sure she pedals back there  And lets not talk about the 20 pounds of groceries she stores in the back pockets of my cycling shirt:eek:

My wife and I were talking about getting a tandem. I have been cycling a while and have done a handful of centuries but would love to do one on a tandem with her.................................. I think. :-\

I havent done an MS150 yet though. They have a pretty cool one that goes down to the Keys. I should do that one some day.

OK, I am on the bandwagon. I did 50 PU and 100 SU. I think I will just have to step it up and do the whole 100 and 200 though.

The MS150 thing sounds like a lot of fun. I would really like to do something like that. I think Prages and I will have to look into that. I really don't see me and Prages doing the tandem thing though. One of us would just end up killing the other and jail I don't think would be good for either of us. I think a marriage is much better off with each member controlling their own craft. Way too much opportunity for arguing.

Thats a pretty good deal for all of you!

Yeah, well he's not buying into it yet. He told me that it sounds like a lot of work, he doesn't believe he'll gain any weight, and "actually Dad, I still have most of my Christmas money left. I really don't have any expenses so I should have enough to last until my birthday":facepalm:

How can I instill a hearty work ethic when he has no sense of greed?

He might NOT gain weight. But it still wouldnt hurt at all. I'm sure there are other ways you can motivate him aside from money, but you knowing him best would have to figure that out. Just be creative. But of course on the flip side I dont think it's critical that he begin an exercise program at that age. If you're worried about his safety in school due to his small size......a well placed right hand, knee or boot can be effective regardless of how big or small the person. :embarrassed:

(Not that I condone violence, mind you, but kids can be rough, and it is a solution in some rare situations)

I'm looking at those sites today, interesting. I'm not sure if I want to get into this too, since I'm already on a program and go the the gym everyday. Will definitely be working out along with all of you, though, and am interested in everyone's progress and results.

Good luck to all!

So, yeah....I did the 30 pushups yesterday. No pain today. A little weakness, but no pain. I'm thinking I should have just gone ahead and done a few more sets, I just went till I couldnt do anymore at once, I dont know if that counts or not. I bet I could do 100 if I could break every 15-20 pushups. Is that "legal" for this?

I also jogged half a mile yesterday. Legs are a little rubbery. And 25 situps, but no pain.

I will do the initial tests tonight and start the 'system' on Monday.

Size wise....I was always pretty small. I started high school at about 5' 2" and maybe 75 lbs.
I started my Senior year at 5 7" and about 110 lbs.

I graduated at 5' 11" , 125#

I'm now 6' 1 1/2", 185#. I grew really late. My kids at least are not following suit.

Mrs T doesn't particularly like the tandem....after lunch cop0 Honestly though, she can ride well, but she doesn't like to ride on the road at all, hence the tandem. Back when we were in pretty good shape, we were able to hold 28 - 30 mph on the level. :thu: We have hit 65 mph downhill once. We are pretty sad at the moment though:facepalm: If you guys thought you wanted to come up for the ride, that would be cool. It leaves from Morraine State Park in Portersville and ends in Conneaut Ohio right on Lake Erie. First weekend in June.

I did 30 minutes on the bike trainer too. Trying to get my tender derrier toughened up for the saddle this summer.

i completed week one of both routines. my shoulders are stiff this morning, but my stomach is fine. which is weird because i can feel it when i do the jack-knifes. tomorrow i'll start week 2.
