I'm going to buy a (CHEAP) second vehicle. I want it to be fun.

God, please. I just can't explain. Pain in the ass is not even close. Did you see the engine bay photo? You can't sqeeze a paper clip in there. There has never been a bigger peice of shit ever produce any where. When I was in the high end car business I refused to sell thoise to anyone at any price. You can't run far enough or fast enough away from one of those things.

I wouldnt buy one. It's just that it's a sexy looking car, and just the idea of a V12 is droolworthy. I know better than to actually do it, but the temptation is always there a little.

It might be worthwhile to spend a little time searching out forums for local car groups in your area. Many times on those, like here and HC, deals are posted for their forumite brethren that aren't necessarily the same as the deal they've posted on CL or whatever.

Locally for me there's http://www.mwir.net/forum/. I've seen some truly incredible deals go down on there, and more often than not whoever you bought a car from would also have a truckload of parts handy that you could dig through or even the right parts to finish fixing the car up included in the deal. There a handful more chicagoland forums like that as well, I"m sure there's a bunch around Pitt (I think that's where you are) as well.

They also are incredible fonts of knowledge for when you get stuck when fixing up a car you may not be that familiar with. The 3SI (3000GT/Stealth) forum was indispensible to me when I had my VR-4 as was nopistons.com with my RX-7.

I hung out on an F-body forum for a while a few years ago when I was in the market for one previously (which of course never happened), and I am a member of a Cherokee forum now. Both of course are fantastic sources of information. I wish you wouldnt have mentioned the VR-4. I know I cant afford one, but DAMN I would love to own one.

I will likely be driving the BMW to Pragestock...... looking forward to carving up those curves.

I wont have much of a chance to whip my "fun car" around corners. Not saying I wouldnt love a Porsche and jump on one if the opportunity was there, but more often than not the only chance I'll have to goof around with it will consist of mashing the gas and grinning stupidly until I catch up with traffic in a few seconds. That Trans Am is also, IMO, one of the best looking cars ever made, so that's a huge part of its appeal for me.

I had a Mazda MX-6 that was really fun to drive...

I wonder about older honda preludes...

I was just thinking the same thing. Which carving knife to choose. Then again I don't want to end up like Jeremy and the boys driving a european car through West Virginia. Of course mine won't say "country music is rubbish" down the side.

I'm leary of any Craigslist ad that doesn't list a phone number anymore. I've seen too many things way underpriced that appear on a bunch of difference city's listings with the exact same pics and text.

That said, it could be legit. Who knows.

Its actually a fairly average price for that car. Decent deal but nothing crazy. It's also been listed quite a few times over the last month with the price coming down each time. I think he's legit. If I had 2500 cash in hand right now I'd offer it to him. That car serves me no practical purpose but I WANT it.

Mine doesn't either.

It says "NASCAR SUCKS".

Yeah, that sounds legit.

I've seen some that are obviously scams though. Like the 2005 Wranger Rubicon for $2600, that after I posted about it here bellyaching about not having $2600, I noticed the exact same ad in about 10 cities all along the east coast.

Then there are the ones that have the exact same text with different cars attached and are posted to a bunch of different cities.

I think I counted about 50 ads one time that all had the same closing line "I love this car and hate to sell it, but I have medical bills and need the money, so...."

I remember that, too. I still think you should get yourself a Jeep. :embarrassed: Cherokees are a dime a dozen and as long as you go for the 4.0 they'll pretty much run forever. Just dont get an 01 ...the heads crack.:(

I'd love a Jeep, but I can see me driving the Ranger and Mrs. P driving the Stratus until the wheels fall off. That could be any day though. :embarrassed:
