There's a guy around here who has one of those, it's incredible. I was next to him at a light once and got him to gun it across the intersection. :grin:

At the time it was second only to the Ferrari Enzo (half a million dollars) and no, it will clear a speed bump so it stayed.

My dream car is a relatively simple one by today's standards - a red Ferrari F355 F1. It isnt the fastest thing out there, but it's BEAUTIFUL, plenty fast, sounds fantastic, and I think the F1 transmission would be great to drive. I love the car all the way around.
 
So I've pretty much decided I want a 3rd gen Camaro Z28 or Iroc with a 5.7. I've always loved them and after lots of looking around, it seems like they offer the most car for the money. It doesnt hurt that I LOVED them growing up, and they might actually be worth something someday.

Yep, i dont think you could do better bang for the buck. I like those a lot too.

Yeah, it seems like for 1500-2000 and a little wrench time I could have something very driveable, and over time could make it look good too.

Sure. And for all the guys who laugh at musclecars, those F body cars can carve up the twisties with the best of the german stuff. And with a throaty exhaust, they sound terrific. :thu:

I dunno about the BEST of the German stuff, but they certainly are no joke. The F-body was chosen by the car mags back then as the best handling car the USA produced, and they managed to pull .91 Gs (I actually didnt know that before yesterday :embarrassed: ). Could a Porsche or Ferrari from the same era do better? Almost certainly. But I still love the 3rd gens, always have. For the tiny amount of money I'd like to keep the outlay to, they're my best bet. I looked at RX-7s, Nissans, Porsches, all the stuff we talked about in this thread, but all the way around an F-body wins out for price, availability of parts, and performance for the dollar.

There's a whole sub-group of 3SI owners who've bought the non-turbo version and eventually sufficiently rebuilt the engine to accept the TT setup from the big boy. Check out http://www.3si.org/ for info. Might be a good place to look for deals, too. :)
