NPD Power Tube Reactor

When I saw this pedal on The JHS Show a couple of weeks ago I ordered one right away from Reverb. It’s a Korg pedal built with the Nu-Tube technology. I liked the way the Nu-Tube sounded in my Mini Super Beetle amp but it still didn’t get the sag (compression) of a tube amp with a tube rectifier. I’ve always wanted a pedal that could give me that power amp sound. I’ve had several that came close over the years but this one nails it. It has that overdriven power amp rectified sound I’ve been looking for. I even tried it in the FX loop of my solid state Lab Series amp. It sounded like a whole new amp. In my opinion this Nu-Tekt technology could be a game changer.
This pedal can go from just a touch of added warmth to full on overdriven rectifier distortion. There are three little trim pots under the rubber strip on the center left. Tone, Sustain and Threshold. A nice feature is the Mix control for blending an unaffected signal.
Now if I could only get Vox to sell the MSB 1X10” cab separately I sure would like another one. These amps sound best run at 4 ohms (50w).

I knew about Nu-tube, just not Nu-tekt. I was expecting Nu-tekt=Nu-tube 2.0 or, something. Only found so far, I think Nu-tekt is a series of DIY pedals from Korg with solder-less connections.

They call it DIY. All I had to do was put a battery in it and screw on the back plate.

I never should have clicked on this thread. I just ordered one.

I have 6 boards and over 85 pedals at this point. I need another stomp box like I need another hole in my head. I’m truly addicted to buying pedals. But, I rarely drink alcohol and a stomp addiction has to be a lot less expensive than being an alcoholic, so it’s a win in the long run. I think of all the money I’m saving by NOT getting a DUI.

I know exactly what you mean. I need a twelve stomp program.

I’ve had a few of those little Vox heads with the Nu-Tube. The one thing I really like about them, is they react more like a tube amp when hit with an od pedal than a traditional solid state amp. I’ll have to check out the JHS video, this thing looks pretty cool.

I’ve only had about an hour play time with the Korg TRS 2022 pedal. For me, this pedal
Is all about the feel. I was playing low volume and getting the feel of a cranked amp.

At first, I tried the settings in the instruction manual which were way too extreme for me. But, they certainly helped to illustrate what the pedal is capable of doing. I had to back way off on the sag, mix and gain to get something acceptable for me. Eventually, I put an OD in front of the Korg and that was a blast.

My signal chain was Tele Deluxe > AM KOT > Korg TRS 2022 > VAC Hayseed 15 head > oversized open back 112 cab with Celestion Alnico Blue speaker.

I’m already hooked. I’m glad I bought this Korg.

That’s what I like about it. I like having a mix control so l can blend in my clean direct signal. Easy to get a natural amp like sound at low volume. I agree it can get extreme at high sag and gain settings. Maybe they were going after the Mesa rectifier sound.
