One artist you missed the chance to see

Prince in about 2001. Tickets were pricey at the time, I waited, it sold out and I heard that the show was unreal.

It wasn't like a bucket list thing or anything, but I was going to try to drag my wife to see Steve Hackett do Selling England By the Pound back in April. But then the plague hit.

I saw him at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. It was great, but lawn seats made it difficult to really appreciate the staging that goes into one of his shows.
He never played anywhere remotely close to where I was living.

Weird theatrical post-Genesis PG would have been my preference, but old arty benevolent grandfather PG would have been fine too.

Can’t name the number of shows I went to with friends, but went out to dinner ahead of time with 4 courses, dessert, and drinks throughout; and then showed up to the show late to hear the last 3 songs.

Went to see Tool with King Crimson opening, totally missed King Crimson.

Saw the last 3 songs of Van Der Graaf Generator at the Roxy around 1979. All amped up on coke, me and my GF completely forgot about the show.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, last 3 songs.

Had the flu for The Jesus and Mary Chain. Called my buddy who was going with because I was holding the tickets. His wife answered the phone and was totally surprised as he had already left and told her he was with me. He was dating a stripper at the time. He never spoke to me again, as if it was my fault. Just give me a heads up (unless your wife is a good friend also).

I had tickets to see Simon and Garfunkel at the Astrodome, but they cancelled because of a silly little hurricane and never came back. I'm still mad about that.

I hate that I never got to see Peter Gabriel.
I saw him in the early 2000s. I was underwhelmed. The arena was mostly empty. It had a "Puppet Show And..." feel. It just was not a good show. OTOH, I saw Steve Hackett last October. Fantastic show.

I saw Simon and Garfunkel in 1966 shortly after Sounds of Silence hit; they played in a high school auditorium as a duo. Paul Simon is a great guitar player.

Dick Dale. Had tickets, and showed up early. Wife and I burned a joint in the car in the parking garage, got out and promptly locked my keys in the car.

We made the decision to take a bus home for the spare keys rather than bust out the window after the show. Once home, we knew it would be a long time before a bus came, so we took a taxi. Got to the garage, unlocked the car and grabbed those keys, and locked it back up. Hoofed it to the venue a few blocks away....

Just as we turned the corner, everyone was hitting the exit. Missed the entire fucking show.

Could have seen Metallica open for Ozzy back when they were young and hungry, a guy and girl I would have went with ran into Cliff by the tour busses before the show. I didn't want to bother my mom for the money because we were struggling. I should have begged, borrowed or stole to go.

Oh, and BB King did a free show at Tuzla Air Base while I was in Bosnia. I had duty that day, but my commander asked if I wanted to go since I was a guitarist. I didn't want to seem lazy so I stayed on. He ate at the mess tent with everyone else and hung out with his former daughter in law who was stationed there. They said he was hella cool with everyone and put on a great show.
