Have you ever had GAS for a doubleneck?

Flamencology

You don't deserve koa.
GPOTD got me thinking.

Any serious thought?

I’ve always wanted one of these since seeing ‘The Weight’ in The Last Waltz:

And I kinda like David Fiuczynski’s with the fretless, except that the finish and the gold are kinda hideous, so it goes in the ‘has potential’ folder:

You?

I have never considered a double neck, or even lusted after one. They all just look heavy and uncomfortable.

I considered one a few years ago. Wasn't going for anything crazy but almost picked up a Danelectro Double Neck. They don't weigh a ton and would've been great to use on some of the TP tunes in the TP band.

Not I.

I've seen some in the hands of players I admire that I thought were pretty cool, but not in the way that makes me want one.

Yep. Got an SG double-neck. While it seems ridiculous -- and can be, admittedly -- having an electric 12 is handy, and having the ability to switch necks on the fly for various reasons has been useful over the years.

This guy is why I posted the doubleneck.

I saw them years ago at a festival in Chicago. Never knew who they were, but always remembered the Carvin doubleneck. Last week, I was looking for new music to listen to on www.albumoftheyear.org, and checked them out because I liked the name. And oh hey, it's that looping duo I saw in Chicago with the weirdo Carvin. It's a pretty cool record and I might go see them when they play here in a couple of weeks.

So today, I went looking for doublenecks on Reverb. And I spit my coffee out at the guitar that became the GPOTD. So of course I had to post it.

When the first Ovation double neck acoustics came out in the late 60s or early 70s, I kinda thought they were cool. Thankfully that didn't last long; I have enough to regret in my past.

yes i did, when i saw Rik Emmett with one.
then i remembered playing one in a store back in the 70's and also remembered how much they weigh.
then, not so much.
