@Flamencology what do you think of that LP? I’ve got opinions but they’re kind of a moving target.
For everyone else, the Better Oblivion Community Center album is the real deal if you’re into songwriterly Americana-tinged alt.

It’s hit-and-miss. The best tracks are the Olivia Chaney-sung tracks, particularly ‘The Old Church Yard’ and ‘Willie O’Winsbury’, which are both sublime. I really admire The Decemberists’s for their work as a backup band here, they’re skilled musicians showing great taste and restraint. But like most of The Decemberist’s stuff, I like them more on paper than in practice, so I often find myself skipping at least one of the Meloy-sung tracks, sometimes more. Maybe it’s him, I dunno.
But Chaney can do no wrong. I’m a super-fan.
