The World Cup Thread

This sounds like some serious BS about FIFA letting the red carded US player play tomorrow. Possibly right after our favorite president called the pres of FIFA.

I want our team to win, but not because the laughably corrupt good ol boys network gives special treatment.

Maybe the team will decide to bench him anyway.

If the suits want to ruin this tournament they may have found the way to do it.
they won't win now that he's touched it.

is there any goddamn thing that fat fuck can't ruin?

Some of these players need to HTFU. I know, injury drama is part of the game, but it's the worst part.

i’m shocked SHOCKED that a major sport league would change a ruling.

It’s amazing how weak soccer players are on their feet when they’re dribbling a ball and running out of angle or space but the second they score they can carry an entire team on their back and not go down.

I’m not sure if I didn’t pay as much attention in the past or this is truly an historic level of drama and intrigue.

I love all the foreign fans, loving on our country and our ways. Maybe I haven’t looked hard enough, but I don’t see a lot of people praising Canada and Mexico. They are hosts as well.

The best (or worst) part of the red card change is that Trump apparently told Infantino "it's not a foul." I'm willing to bet that fucking sack of burger grease walking around in a skin suit has never even watched (not been to, but watched) a soccer (sorry, football) match.

The only way to remove this dark cloud is for the Team USA player to sit this game out.
The lack of integrity surrounding this is astounding.
Yep, but he won't. I'm so fucking sick of the orange pedophile ruining everything even remotely good about the US. I was so into this team and now I don't even feel like watching anymore.

And I get that FIFA has always been corrupt and may even be more corrupt than Trump (which is quite a fucking feat), but this just seems so slimy and gross. Goddamnitsomuch.

I think Poch should start the match without Balogun and use him as a 45’ sub, it would be a total mindfuck to Belgium, who are known for waffles and beer but right now seem to be specializing in whine. Regardless of how (un)fair the lifting of the suspension was, they are complaining about the injustice of having to face a player that wasn’t even on their radar a couple of weeks ago.

England/Mexico was off the hook! I’m so glad they beat MEX at Azteca and shut up some of the most obnoxious fans in sport. I noticed throughout the tournament none of the commentators have mentioned the homophobic chant that is getting shouted by a large number of supporters at every opposing team’s goal kicks. I guess FIFA got tired of trying to police and decided that if they ignore it it doesn’t really exist.

Stay classy, Mexico!

That was quite a good game. It was the first England game that I got a chance to watch and was impressed with how quick those guys are. They simply outran some of the Mexico players more than once. I think Mexico didn't believe they could lose at home, but they were wrong.

I dunno about the chant. I can't tell what they're saying (not just Mexico) since it's usually in a different language. I was halfway through the Netherlands v Japan game before I realized the chants were from the Japanese fans. Go figure.

I was thinking about going to Waffle House for breakfast. I assume they'll have a line now. Mayby BBQ for lunch? I'm so hungry watching foreign reactions to US restaurants. Is Waffle House publicly traded? Rib and brisket prices are going up as well.

The Ranch dressing thing is a mystery to me. I like it, kind of.
A couple years ago my older son scolded his younger brother for going off to college and coming back home eating ranch dressing. "we don't use that condiment in this household at home or in public. You've embarassed the family."

I have a slight crush on the British gal in the video so appreciative of a coffee refill.

The contant appeals by both sides for calls from the refs is tiring. It is like professional wrestler level of acting or over-acting.

I hope more people from around the world travel to the US for vacation in the coming years.

The Mexican fans booing the playing of the English national anthem was pathetic.

It's not personal. It's business (among crime families).

I doubt many Americans understand the strength of feeling about this ban being overturned. People all over the world HATE it. And that's despite the fact that 99% agree is wasn't a red. But that's not the point. Once it's given its given, that's football. It's not just the blatant corruption (we expect that) but the lack of understanding of what football is. This is the world's game and American exceptionalism doesn't get to fuck with it. You simply don't change rulings you don't like. You get on with it.

Man up America :cop:
