The World Cup Thread

I'm happy for Morocco. Quite disappointed with the Dutch team, especially Koeman. No idea why the hell he decided to suddenly play 5-2-3 and let Morocco totally dominate the midfield. Just had two strong games playing the "normal" Dutch system, why on earth would you throw that overboard. And playing for penalties when you're historically godawful at them is an absurd choice as well. I hope Koeman is gone after this WC. He's a good people manager, but his tactical choices and substitutes are really strange and pretty much never work out.
 
Watching this USA Bosnia match brings back old memories. When my son played youth soccer, a Bosnian team was on their way to being kicked out of their third league. St. Louis has the largest Bosnian population outside of Bosnia. They mostly lived in South St. Louis city. They were kicked out of the league in the city because of fighting of not only the kids, but the parents. They went to a very competitive league in St. Louis County and we’re stomped by the higher level of competition so they came out to the next county to a recreational league my son played in. They were on their way of being kicked out from our league too.
They played a pretty dirty game and their coach cussed in Bosnian I assume and broken English. He chainsmoked hand rolled cigarettes. Some Karen’s bitched about his smoking and cussing. So the coach was banned from the league. So the next game, he just yelled from behind the bleachers while chainsmoking.

Iloved it when we played them or next to them. It was a great show. I thought it taught our kids to play a little more aggressively without being dirty.

My son switched teams but I heard they were banned from the league by the next season for fighting.

It was indeed a great win. Playing a man down for most of the 2nd half and still holding on for the win was impressive. They/re going to miss Balogun against Belgium. That was a bullshit red card. Incidental contact, there was nothing intentional about it. The ref didn't even put up a yellow card before the replay and he was right there. To do a video replay and pull a red out of nowhere was a bit much.

There was definitely some questionable contact by the Bosnians last night. A lot that went uncalled. I was surprised they didn't call anything when the guy shoved Freese back to the ground as he was getting up with the ball after a save. Seemed pretty blatant to me. :shrug:

they've really been 'letting them play' this world cup. a lot of these games are getting completely out of control because refs are just swallowing the whistle and players are taking advantage
