Scotland Fans Drink Boston Bars Dry During World Cup

It’s like when the Iniversity of Wisconsin is in the Rose Bowl…

Speaking of which, England are absolutely shelling Croatia in the second half!
Yeah, England played well and Croatia doesn't have a whole lot to replace the aging golden generation. I'm actually quite surprised with how long they hung on and kept themselves in the game.

Agreed. Ties shouldn't exist in sports. Just play a short sudden death OT, then if needed have a shootout.

Anyway I don't follow soccer, but will usually watch the last few games. Who are the likely top 4 contenders this time around?

Come on man, there's enough crappy Mmurican "soccer" takes without you adding to it...

I mean, yeah, Czechia - South Africa was a pretty mediocre game to watch, but Switzerland - Bosnia made watching paint dry seem exciting even though it ended 4-1. If your only parameter is "THE ONE TEAM SCORED HARDER" then maybe football is just not your thing.

I was not expecting Germany to have this much trouble with Ivory Coast!

<edit> and there they go, scoring the go-ahead in extra time

I guess I need an English to English translation. So hydration break is really just a commercial break. One game was in an indoor stadium that is air-conditioned. ???
It’s a shame that one of the sports best bestparts (non stop action) is being erroded by commercialism.
If you’re going to give up on that aspect, why not fix the silly clock business? Put a timer on the scoreboard and have it start and stop at control of the ref.

I still watch like I watch all sports because its at the highest level. It gives me something to talk about with my son.and I bought an 83” OLED tv to watch the World Cup

Yes. It's just a commercial break. There's strong rumours that it is to please the US broadcasters and organisers. Hydration/heat breaks already existed before this, but they would be instated on a game-by-game basis during extreme conditions or by the ref team if they felt the players health would require it, and they'd be a lot shorter (literally just an opportunity for players to have a few sips).

Uefa has already confirmed there will be no hydration breaks like this next EC unless the temperatures/conditions exceed a certain threshold.
