The "Unsung Heroes" of guitar/rock music, etc....

Agree with Adrian Smith, such a great tasteful player.

Also:

Denis "Piggy" d'Amour - probably the first player in metal using open chords and dissonance

Ian Moore
Todd Park Mohr
Tim Reynolds...not just for DMB or Dave and Tim fans
Glenn Tilbrook
Dave Gregory
Mike Rutherford...his solo on Silent Running is killer
David Rhodes
Ben Harper
Annie Clark/St. Vincent...she's awesome, period.
Brett Kull
Jim Martin
Eric Bazilian
Gary Louris
Jennifer Turner

There's tons more and lots of others in other genres, but these were the ones that popped into my head.

Wow! Tilbrook, didn't see that coming. Very nice. You win the thread.

When I see names like Morse, Ralphs, Tipton, Downing, Harper, Stevens, Whitford, Metlocke, Taylor, and Smith mentioned as unsung....I'm no longer sure I know what unsung means. I have read articles in major guitar rags about all of those players multiple times. Some have signature guitars. They may not get press now, but all those guys had a lot of print and visibility in their younger days.

Some here definitely are in that category. Excellent players integral to their bands or genres who were ignored or overshadowed because they played second fiddle to a famous player(s) or were never in a hugely successful bands.
