This might be cool. Here's an online pin map. I made a free account.
pinmap_zps1e3dcb74.jpg

We can all just log-in under those credentials and go to the The Lounge map
pinmap2_zps6dcf5633.jpg

add a pin to your location,

copy/paste your post into the information about that pin, put it under your screen name, and we'll have a graphical representation of where our forumites are from.

Be as detailed or sparse as you're comfortable with.

It would be cool, if you happen to be going to some city, to know which forumites live there. Or just to see how spread out we are across the globe.

Give it a shot and let me know if it seems to work alright. This is the first site I found doing a Google search and it seems alright.

Email address is: [my screen name] at Gmail.com
Password is TheLounge!

That way you all don't have to create an account. If you would like to, though, I think I can just share that map with you to allow you to see it and add to it, etc. Let me know if you'd rather do that and we'll figure it out as we go. I think this will be interesting if enough people do it.

That is completely the next level of innernet awsesome. And a very appropriate usage for this forum and such like.

Only thing is, I think we can now mischievously/maliciously edit each others' info, no? Maybe this requires a gatekeeper?

Hover over your pin, now, Eloy.

Or hover over Mark's Pin. i am wreaking havoc! Stop me before it's too late!

This could be either great fun, or a complete disaster.

They call me "THE FLAWFINDER!"

:mmad:

Now, how do you change it back...

Your real first name and age: Greg

Marital status and children: Single, no kids

Where you live: Mifflintown, PA

What you do for a living: supervisor/tech support for central PA college online program

Your favorite food: Anything I can make on my grill

Hobbies: music, firearms, gardening, building stuff

Tell us who your favorite musicians are, who influenced you, why you play: Favorite guitarists are BB King, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Alvin Lee, and probably a ton more I forget. My favorite bands are Cracker, Old 97's, Rolling Stones, Black Crowes and again, more that I'm probably forgetting.

Your band and what your playlist looks like: New band started called Last Men Standing. We play old stuff :) Still searching for a blues band.

Tell us a bit about your equipment, pics are always welcome:
Guitars: Nick Huber Orca, Gibson ES 335, Robin Avalon, Gibson J45, Takamine Glen Frey Signature acoustic, Peavey Bass
Amps: Tech 21 Trademark 60, Fender Deluxe Reverb RI, Victoria 20112
Pedals: Fulltone Plimsoul, Barber Direct Drive, MXR MicroAmp, Delay Pedal (cant remember make), Boss Chorus (sucks), TC Electronic PolyTune

What other forumites do you know, have met in person, talked to on the telephone: Talked to Mark Wein and that's about it. Took lessons for a few years but had to give them up due to going back to college.

Some of my decoys. One competition bird completed, another with feathers drawn but not all burned in yet, the third and antique-style faux-working decoy.

That is positively STUNNING! Wow man. I really like that a lot. So cool.

Yeah, they're really beautiful decoys, whose sole purpose is to lure poor unsuspecting geese to get close enough to shoot, clean cook and eat...

I APPROVE!:baimun:

:helper:

Man you want a lot of information:

Your real first name and age: Rich and I'm 44
marital status and children: married 15 years, 12 and 8 yr old kids
where you live: Northeastern PA
what you do for a living: Instructional Design and Faculty at a small college.
your favorite food: salmon
hobbies: gardening, biking, trying to paint/draw, playing guitar

tell us who your favorite musicians are, who influenced you, why you play: Neil Young and Bob Dylan always are there. I'm not good enough for anyone to have influenced me properly...I can't play "like anyone." I really like the way some people put together songs, though. I play for the fun of it.

your band and what your playlist looks like: Not currently in a band. My last band met twice a month and played in front of people once a year...we played a mix of surf songs, classic rock (including Black Sabbath on the heavier end to Tom Petty on the poppier end), and some newer music, although two of the guys couldn't seem to recognize anything written this century. Left to my own devices, my playlist would be heavy on Bright Eyes type stuff.

tell us a bit about your equipment, pics are always welcome: I have a pic of electric guitars, but none of amps etc. My main amp is a Fender Bassman 70 through a Fender 1x12 cabinet of more recent vintage; I also use a Fender Performer 1000 when I'm trying to carry less. I have some smaller amps for playing around the house: Marshall Lead 12 ministack (NOT the MG series one), Epiphone Valve Jr and Epiphone Valve Special.

guitars01.jpg
(l-r): 2 Fender MIM Teles, 1 Fender MIM Strat, 1 Gibson Les Paul, 1 Gibson SG, 1 Epiphone Dot
Not shown: Ibanez and Washburn acoustics and an Ibanez Roadstar II Bass.

what other forumites do you know, have met in person, talked to on the telephone: none.
