The unofficial MWGL forum census...

This may be a shock, but my real first name is Chad.
I am 42, married with 2 girls, 9 and 7.
I live in the DC area
After 13 years in IT, I am now a project manager for a fence company.
I don't think I really have a favorite food, but I love Mexican food and Pizza.
Other than music, the only hobby I have is doing anything my kids want to.

Growing up, my dad was always playing guitar, so I picked it up from him. It is really hard to pick out influences, I think I am influenced in one way or another by everything I have ever listened to. I think if I had to pick a guitar player or band that I sond most like, it would be Peter Buck/REM.

Right now, I have a Ric 620, a parts build Esquire, an old Harmony Sovereign acoustic and a Mustang Bass. For amps I am using a VHT Special 12/22 and a GK RB400.

oh I forgot to mention that I have never met any of your sorry asses in person :embarrassed:

Well my gear and age has changed and thanks to Pragestock, I think I have now met most of the people here.

I no longer have the Ric, the Esquire or the VHT. I now have a McFeely, Lead II , a Musicmaster amp and shitload of pedals.

Oh yeah, and I am back to IT but at least I get to work from home.

My first car was a '65 convertible Mustang. I am amazed I am still alive.
My first car was a '95 Mitsubishi Mirage that I swear had a target painted on it. It was a tin can that bent if you thought too hard and people liked to hit me.

My Firebirds and Mustangs may have been/are fast, but comparatively they're tanks, and I've not been in an accident that I caused in them.

Your real first name and age: Steve, 55
Marital status and number of children: Married, 2 children, son 15 and daughter 11.
Where you live: Mt. Pleasant, Michigan
What you do for a living: I am a clinical psychologist. I work full time for the Michigan Department of Corrections and have a very small private practice. Currently hoping not to be privatized.
Other hobbies beside music: I love to read. Science fiction and fantasy. Hanging out on social networks too much of the time. Not enough time practicing guitar. I sing in the choir of the Unitarian Universalist church where I belong, and discovered that I am a baritone, to my surprise (all those years singing Neil Young songs, and here I am faking bass).
Biggest musical influence: I have been listening to folk music since I was little, so Pete Seegar, Joan Baez. Spent years exploring the seventies era progressive rock of bands like Yes, Gentle Giant, others. Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchel, Neil Young, Richard Thompson, The Who, Beatles, God, there is so much good music out there!
Number of guitars and amps owned (can cause some embarrassment):Two nice acoustics, not high end, but sound great. 2 electrics, a customized Peavey T-60 and an SG Classic with P90's I feel unworthy to play. One small tube amp.

Well, that was then. I am going to be 59 at my next birthday!
Marital status and number of children: Divorced. My ex is extremely bitter and wants to move 120 plus miles away so she can wrap her tentacles around my son (freshman at the uni, 18) and keep me away from my daughter (14). Bitter? Moi?
Where you live: The same!
What you do for a living: The same, no private practice, 3 times the work for the state.
Other hobbies beside music: Much of the same. Lots of drama at the UU with the ex caused me to withdraw prior to the divorce. Discovered that there actually was no way to keep the peace, so I am going back because the singing means so much to me. She also isn't attending.
Number of guitars and amps owned (can cause some embarrassment): I still have the Blackheart 3/5 watt. I bought a used Fishman acoustic amp. A friend of mine restored a Peavey T-60 (the one inscribed with autographs) so with the custom T-60 I have two of them. I sold the SG to buy shoes and pay bills during a really rough patch. When that got better I bought a Dean acoustic electric 12 string. To compound the insanity, I have a Teisco Del Rey on layaway. Fully hollow body, featherlight, acoustically loud, cool cheesy electric voice. Bigsby.
Biggest musical influence: My daughter. Through her I am rediscovering the music I like and hearing new stuff through her. It was kind of a shock when she texted me a while ago saying "I've been listening to a lot of Grateful Dead lately". And Little Feat. Dylan, it goes on.

Al, 37 years old
Divorced no kids, but I have two cats Annie Oakley and FUB (Fat Ugly Baby)
I have a girlfriend named Annie who works at Oakley (I had the cat first)
And she has two teenage daughters who call me stepdad
I live in Orange California, but I am originally from Cleveland and I actually grew up in Toronto Canada
I am the Manager of Orange Cycle, but at one point I was a pro rider and a hotshot bike developer for Specialized
My favorite foods are Italian, Mexican, Chinese and good old merican
My hobbies are Mountain Biking, BMX, Comic Books, Star Wars, Star Trek and anything else fucking nerdy.

My Mother listened to rock and my Stepfather liked old time country and bluegrass. When I was around 7 I would throw Ace of Spades on the record player and the next thing would be George Jones.
I do not know if that influences me as a guitar player, because I only recently started taking lessons from Mark.

My favorite band is Clutch, because they were my first band that I listened to when they started as a hardcore band and 20 years later they have been everything from Metal to Blues rock and even some Jazz Funk

Here my shit but the Bass belongs to Andy
