WTF: The Third Installement Of The Thread About Nothing

I got a Vox coily cable in blue. Now I'm color coordinated with my recently purchased Jet City amp and cab.

I stumbled across what I consider to be my dream guitar yesterday on the GC used site. They were selling it for much less than it usually sells for. So this is on the way.

It's a Heritage H155 Millennium. It's a hollow body that should have Duncan Seth Lovers installed. Beautiful guitars. I fell in love with them when I visited the Heritage factory last year. But a new one is out of my reach. I'll have to sell a couple of guitars to pay for this.

Frickin clothes dryer not working. Always happens on the weekend when there's a big backlog of stinky clothes and the parts store is closed.
At least I got it diagnosed to the gas valve solenoid coils. Easy fix $20 parts.
i know way too much about things I have no interest in.

Mornin Guys. Mon, that guitars looks very custom, very cool.

So.....

I've spent most of my time the last few months doing 2 things mainly. 1-Take care of my Pops. 2- Create a Paradise in my backyard.

1 is very stressful, while the other is very motivating. Ever since my Dad got sick about 6 years ago, I have not been able to keep up with guitar playing/learning, and have really only been building pickups. I decided that the playing side of things just isn't really happening too much so I'm going into a long term hiatus with playing. Yesterday I got rid of pretty much all of my musical belongings save for my workbench amp and test bed guitar.

My current focus has changed to getting healthier, letting my hands heal, and making sure my Dads taken care of.

Kind of sounds like an official statement to the press! hah...

Anyway, just changing focus for some time. I may lean on some of my friends here to make demo clips in the future. (please.)

Ken, you do what you have to. Continued mojo.

While I was in the city with time to kill, I stopped in at GC. They just got a really nice used 2000 walnut Gibson SG Special with a hard shell case and had it priced right. It's naturally reliced. It has a nice chunky neck and an ebony fretboard. It felt good in my hands so I bought it. It falls in line with my realignment of my guitar collection. I settled on a few more things to sell yesterday. I'm pretty sure that the SG is just walnut stained. It looks and sounds like mahogany.

SG is gorgeous!

hey, who needs sleep, right?
seems that any time I have to be up early (as in needing to set the alarm clock early), I can't sleep.
damn cat didn't help matters either, climbing all over me.

oh, and did I tell you about my lovely experience with a certain music shop in Winnipeg?
had my guitarist bring my Peavey bass in for repairs (as I don't live in town)
what was to be done was simply to replace all the pots.
(5 total, vol, selector, bass, mid, treb)
that was ALL they were s'posed to do.

well, they replaced 3 of them.
and did a "set-up" I didn't ask for, though they charged me for it anyways.
and the set-up was horrible.

thing is, it was a couple months from when it went into the shop till I got back into town, so by then, there wasn't much to be done about it.
apart from putting it back the way I like it.

I really don't need the action so bloody high that my fingers fit between the strings & the fretboard.

you'd think a shop that's been around for so long would have their shit together,

needless to say, they won't be doing any more repairs for me.

coffee time!

Cool SG Monica!
Mojo Ken.
Returned the PA and got a Cube 30x. Cool amp, perfect for little gigs and acoustic sets.

Good evening.

I dropped the Heritage and the Ibanez Artstar (did I tell you about that one?) off for a setup today. While I was in the area I stopped at a pawn shop. I picked up a Schecter Damien Special for $130. I had one of those when Amazon sold them cheaply a couple of years ago. They are ridiculously inexpensive good guitars. I regretted selling mine. This is an older model with passive EMG HZ pickups. The top is in great shape. There is some buckle rash on the back and a few stickers. Goo Gone will take care of the stickers. The EMGs are powerful but they sound good. No need to change them. It plays very well and has minimal fret wear.

I've been kicking myself since I sold my Artcore AS93. I bought a used AS73 a few weeks ago. But I've been reading about how good the mid 90's MIK Artstars are. I found one on ebay last week at a reasonable price. I'll probably resell the AS73 since I don't need two ES335 style guitars. The Artstar is an AS-80. It has Ibanez Super 58 pickups which are sought after. They are alnico 3 pickups. They sound really good. But the guitar was in need of a fret level and setup so I dropped it off.

With the SG that I bought on Monday, that's four guitars in the last week. I have 6 guitars for sale currently including 3 Heritages and 2 Carvins. At this point I'm refining my collection and trimming things down. I doubt that there will be many additions at this point.

OTOH, I talked about my guitar buying habits with my therapist today. She thinks this qualifies as an addiction. Great. So now I'm an addict. And I've moved from an addict to a dealer.
