The OFFICIAL Pragestock 2014 thread.....

And then there were none.

jelloman's Pragestock post-mortem
(or, should have done this sooner)

First and foremost, it is impossible to express enough thanks and appreciation to Greg (@Prages) and Paula (@Mrs.P) for their hospitality...I have no idea what motivates them to do this, but God love them for it...on top of it they may just be 2 of the nicest people ever...Paula, especially, is incredibly gracious and good humored while riding herd on a bunch of smelly guitar playing gorillas, even going so far as to throw an unconscious texan out of my bunk at 3:embarrassed:0am...I was calling her "Mother" by the end of the weekend...

Dogs make up a good deal of the weekend's entertainment...Sadie, Lily, Diego and Morty are a constant source of amusement...BTW, did Sadie go back in the house yet?

It's nice to put names and faces to the avatars and screen names, and it turns out that you all are some really awesome people...y'all are some funny motherfuckers as well...the scene of @Prages and @eloydrummerboy serenading @Kerouac in his tent with "Goodnite Sweetheart" and "The lion sleeps tonite" still has me laughing, especially the "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" at the end, making those the last numbers performed at Pragestock2014...BTW Eloy, we need to get them those tophats and canes for next year...

There are a million inside jokes and references from past Pragestocks which previous attendees were gracious enough to explain to a newb...they probably enjoyed reliving the moments again anyways, but thanks for that...without help I never would have understood the significance of dolphin caves, ham sandwiches, or "GO TO BED!"

I saw that @GilmourD expressed his feelings that a "Straightedge"would have difficulty fitting in a Pragestock, and I'm here to tell you how wrong you are...there was no issue for neither @Chad nor myself (or, @Modern Saint when he attended)...there is no pressure on you to join in, nor is there a stigma attached to not joining in, everyone is accepted and welcomed whatever their proclivities...plus, to be perfectly honest, Weiners are some pretty fucking funny drunks, if I do say so myself...

I know some Weiners are hesitant to go due to their not being particularly good players...well, I haven't played seriously for over 5 years, and went in cold and unpracticed and pretty much sucked and NOBODY CARED...like eloy told me, the only shame at Pragestock is NOT playing, just get up there and thrash...the best moment for me was jamming out "Hashpipe" with Prages, @Tonereaper and eloy and turning to Prages afterwords and telling him I had never played it before, ever..."Well you have NOW!"...the look on his face when I took the choruses on "Man in the Box" was my other favorite moment...

GEAR LUST...'nuff said...

Did you know you could Reggae-fy "Master of Puppets"?...neithr did I...@Baimun is an incredibly talented bastard, I'm here to tell you...

All in all Pragestock 2014 was the most fun I've had in a long, LONG time...I can't wait for next year...

TL/DR: Pragestock good, not going to Pragestock bad...

+1 @jelloman , Great summary. Except for that part about Baimun. Reggae sucks. :poke:

(Honestly, that jam we did on "All Night Long" was one of the more fun of the weekend.)

And, don't sell yourself short, you can't never say that you're not too unfunny neither, you know?

Thanks guys...I second all of the above. Eloy playing some proper Copeland on one of our Police songs was a favorite memory of mine.

Lino and I played some acoustic stuff that was every bit as much fun at half the decibels.

No two years are exactly the same and this year was no exception.

Thank you to the Prageses for hosting this every year and thank you to all who participated.

Well if you were THERE you wouldn't need to look at pictures...:poke:

But what wasn't was happened and what didn't happened wasn't was.

So if you look at pictures and you were there but don't remember a thing, remember that you are seeing it through someone else's eyes and not your own. :embarrassed:

My days of drinking went out when college ended and for good reasons. As for drunk Weiners, some of the funniest shit happened due to Yuelings, Buffalo Trace and the best one....Ice lmbo

Ill need to come again next year. Couldn't make it work this year and I'm pretty bummed about that after the fantastic time that I had there last summer.

Ditto on that as long as it is not at the end of September again. That is my normal trip home for personal business.

Well dang. They loaded fine on my phone, but I was waiting to get to my computer to look on a bigger screen. Now I will have to wait.
They loaded fine for me as well, but I should have knocked them down a bit before uploading them. If I get time tomorrow I will put them back up :)

Thanks Baimun :) had a blast !

@Lino

Your pics loaded fine for me too, but having to scroll through the same 30 pics 6 times to get to the ones at the end was kind of a bummer.

Definitely put them up again, but maybe only one copy of each pic next time.

And I'd like to thank each and every one of you guys for coming. The fact that people keep coming year after year and every year has a slightly differnt vibe, is one of the main reasons we keep doing it. It's pretty obvious that everybody has a good time, since the track record for repeat attendees is something like 90%. I can only think of two people (I'm looking at you @Chihlidog and @Phil513) that have only come here once. @jelloman gets a pass since this was his first year.

Pretty much, once you've been here, you get a better sense for what the weekend is all about. Yeah, there's a lot of drinking and other stuff that goes on. There's also a ton of music that gets played. Even the music, though, is secondary to the bonding that occurs when you take a bunch of guys that have gotten to know each other online for several years, and stick them in a room (or back yard) together for a weekend.

It's honestly one of the best experiences in the world.
