Yes, I am currently on the midnight to 8 am shift (we call it shift one) and I want to get back on the 4 pm to midnight shift (we call that shift 3).
Could someone please explain pulling the goalie with 3 minutes left, then putting him back in after the opponent scores easily?
FFS
I get the idea to make a last ditch effort by adding another offensive player say if you are down by one with a minute left, but all the Pens did was dig a deeper hole. Ok, so it failed and they scored. Why not continue without a goalie then, and at least try to make up a point or 2 with the one man advantage since you made the decision. You already fucked yourself, so at least run with it.

They were down 2 already. It's pretty much desperation time. Typically you want to pull the goalie with a minute and a half or so left if you are down by one so double it if you are down by 2. The point is to get the puck and maintain pressure so you can score one fairly quickly. Losing by 2 or 3 makes no difference. It's a gamble and one that rarely pays off but does occasionally and that's why it's done.
But why put him back in, once they were down by 3. Once you pulled that trigger, it's do or die. Why not keep 6 skaters on the ice to increase the pressure? How many times in these playoffs have we seen 2 goals in a minute or less? A few at least. You already lost unless you score 3, so keep the presure on the other goalie and you might just get them. Putting your goalie back in just seems to cement your loss.
Yeah, I remember when the Bruins won in 2011, it just felt weird -- it was like "hockey ought to be over by now."
I realize that pro sports altering schedules amounts to a self-inflicted downsizing (for most), but I'm really hoping the NHL doesn't over-cook itself. I have zero faith in Bettman and the quick cash-out culture makes me worry that they're going to follow the NBA's footsteps of "sports as entertainment!"
Stanley Cup Finals ought to resolve around Mem Day.

Edit: Have a funny (icky) feeling, but anyone got any predictions for tonight? I'll suggest 4-3 Preds, but suspect the Penguins might put it away.
