So....er....what do your monikers actually mean?

There is a podcast I have listened to called "Welcome to Nightvale" which is a lot of fun. I think the Glowing Cloud was in the first episode.

Ooops. Instantsteve was just a variant on another moniker I used; Insstanthuman, as in "Instanthuman: Just add coffee.

Many years ago I wrote a story featuring a small group of immortals who were scattered amongst the globe and did not know that each other existed. One of the character's names is "Baimun" as in "Bay at the Moon".

When I started using email and online things, I would often find user names I wanted taken... so I started using my made up name of Baimun because it was always available everywhere because it's a made up word...

... or so I thought.

As the scope of google grew and more information is added... I discovered that there is a city in Indonesia named "Baimun". I don't know what the name means to them, but I think it's interesting that they use the exact same spelling of a word that I just "made up".

@Mark Wein 's is easy. He was a mob informant in New York and they put him and his family in the witness relocation program.
Their original last name was "Weiner"

But after this guy

They let them shorten it to Wein

I needed to come up with a username for a site.Motorhead- Dog Face Boy was playing on the stereo.I shortened it to DFB.

I once had a 13 year old kid wearing a Bauhaus T-shirt call me an Old Goth Guy because I knew who they were... my friends around me at the time made it my new nickname.

I used that as my screen name at HC for several years before finally tiring of the incessant fucktard parade using it to launch dimwitted jokes at my expense and ultimately, i asked an Admin to shorten it to OGG. Now, all of my friends call me OGG.

It's terrible and I wish it were something different. I couldn't think of anything else at the time. >.>

I feel a certain kinship with the Zappa fans here: HIAR. Frunobulax, Tiger Roach. Been a diehard fan since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. Any I missed?

Mine is simply my initials, the 03 referring to the fact I am the third of four siblings.

Damn, I thought you were An original gangsta with a stuttering problem.

Well my name is Mark Wein but that was taken so I chose my favorite African country for my username.

mine is really supposed to be Mongoose.......but when i joined HC back in around 2002-ish.....that one was already taken, so i just made it Mongooz.

Mongoose is my old call sign from my days in the military, back in the mid 70's. it was "handed down" to me by a more senior NCO that i worked with a lot, before he retired. the story is that it was handed down to him around 1967, by another senior NCO, back in the 'Nam.

Mine comes from a short story title (Modern Saint #271) in a book by Tama Janowitz called "Slaves Of New York". After all we are all "Modern Saint's" in the world trying to make our way through daily life.
