Please continue to feul my GAS, need rawk machine for around $500

Firebirds too, it seems like the bridge and the pickups are too far forward.

That is very interesting...I habitually strum my Tele right over the neck pickup, the "forward" setting on the Explorer might be perfect for me. I may just head on down to GC and see for myself. Plus I guess I should play some SGs, I have never spent any quality time with one.

I love my LTD Explorer FWIW. I'm selling my Dean V because if I'm only keeping one really metal guitar the Explorer is it.

They're easy to play sitting down, & the back wing does not get in the way. The shape is great for the picking hand, nothing to get in the way, drop your palm on the strings & chugga chugga. Be warned, you'll keep slinging it lower & lower, they get better the lower you wear them.

Advice from the guy who can bring the brewtalz with a Squier 51. :thu:

Cool! Thanks Curt!

I may grab one of these someday. Looks kinda retro..might be a fun project guitar. AMS has them for $349

I would lean more towards spending $600 for a faded Gibson then spend less on stuff like the Xavier. I am scarred by my experiences with SX and Squire guitars I think.

Understandable.

I have owned Xaviere LP styles and a Gibson Faded LP. I would buy the Xaviere again.

Just sayin....

Really? hmmm. I'll keep that in mind.

But I think I have raging Explorer gas now. How about the Epiphone Korina ones? Any reviews on those?

If you are going to get a faded Gibson, try before you buy. QC on those is all over the map. When they first came out, sharp fret ends were the complaint. I had mine dressed under warranty, but it had a super-egregious dead spot that would not go away. I had to get rid of it. Broke my heart.

Right on, thanks for that advice!

i can get with everything except the 3 single coils. which is why i mentioned replacing them.

if i were buying an HH guitar for $500, i'd seriously consider a used Reverend Roundhouse HB. .

I would agree with this but I am on a major Reverend kick lately. They have an SG looking one too and they even have a new model called Sensei or something like that and it looks really cool. I am not a great player but I can tell you that the two Revs I tried last week played easier than anything I have picked up. They felt great and sounded great to me. If you have a dealer anywhere near you, it is worth a trip to play one.

Otherwise a lot of good suggestions. I really dig the Explorer idea. Very cool looking guitar. I would also buy an Xaviere in a heartbeat. I especially like the looks of the semi-hollows.

You are so out of control. I love it. Mainly because I just went off the deep end and put a bunch of gear for sale so I could buy a new one. Rock on. electricguitar054

LOL, I'm glad I am not the only one enjoying it!
