New Bipartisan Bill Could Give Any President the Power to Imprison U.S. Citizens in Military Detention Forever
https://theintercept.com/2018/05/01/ndaa-2018-aumf-detention/
A bipartisan group of six lawmakers, led by Sens. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and Tim Kaine, D-Va., is proposing a new AUMF that would greatly expand who the president can place in indefinite military detention, all in the name of restricting presidential power. If the Corker-Kaine bill becomes law as currently written, any president, including Donald Trump, could plausibly claim extraordinarily broad power to order the military to imprison any U.S. citizen, captured in America or not, and hold them without charges essentially forever.

Cambridge Analytica shutting down in wake of Facebook data crisis
Cambridge Analytica, the political ad marketing firm that worked for President Trump and was involved in the misappropriation of 87 million Facebook users' data is reportedly closing its offices.
Cambridge Analytica announced that bankruptcy proceedings will begin in the U.S., as well as insolvency proceedings in the U.K, where the firm has an office and where its parent company The SCL Group is based, the company announced Wednesday.
“Over the past several months, Cambridge Analytica has been the subject of numerous unfounded accusations and, despite the Company’s efforts to correct the record, has been vilified for activities that are not only legal, but also widely accepted as a standard component of online advertising in both the political and commercial arenas,” the company said in a statement.
The company decided to shut down because it was losing clients and had growing legal fees from the Facebook investigation, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing a person familiar with the matter. Cambridge Analytica, with offices in New York, Washington and London, was shutting down effective Wednesday and employees have been told to turn in their computers, the Journal reported before the company released its statement.
More: Cambridge Analytica active in elections, big data projects for years
Tech news site Gizmodo reported that the news was announced Wednesday during a conference call with Julian Wheatland, the chairman of Cambridge Analytica's parent company The SCL Group. The SCL Group and Cambridge Analytica will both shut down, according to documentation obtained by Gizmodo.

Good. Fuck those guys.
maybe they'll name it CovfefeThey’re starting a new company tomorrow.
the interesting thing about that part of his statement "partisan investigations", is that those who are investigating trump right now are REPUBLICANS and some put in their positions BY trump.Partisan investigations are what’s needed. Mafia bosses shouldn’t get a say when they’re being investigated.
Guys like Ryan and McConnell value "team" over life itself, and certainly over any kind of fairness, common sense, or compassionate morality.apparently shit for brains ryan doesn't get that this would be far preferred over what is going on now.
Ryan: Democratic House takeover would lead to gridlock and subpoenas

"Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) reportedly said on Wednesday that if Democrats were to gain control of the House in November's midterms, it would lead to gridlock and partisan investigations of President Trump."
