Will not buy.
If you guys like that style I highly suggest you check out some Redd Volkaert, shit hot country guitar playing without the cringeworthy modern country style songwriting.
And Brad's writing tends to be pretty good. He writes a lot of non-serious stuff on purpose and some of it is lame (Ticks, etc) and some of it is quite good. Brad balances the old and new better than most, but I know 'new country' (ie 70's rock w/pedal steel) is not everyones cup o' tea...
I hate the modern Nashville new country sound, to me the only difference between Paisley and the rest of the bunch is that he actually plays the hot guitar parts on his records instead of paying Brent Mason to do it.
Paisley is a guy I wanted to like, I bought his first album, didn't like it. Watched different youtubes over the years to try and get it and didn't. Watched his ACL appearance a couple of months ago and still didn't get into it.
I'm old school, I'd rather listen to Merle Haggard and Conway Twitty albums.
I prefer either the old school or modern country to most of the 70's and 80's stuff that was the fake hillbilly stuff (still a bit floating around today).
I wish someone could give me a magic trick on how to look at new country in a different light. I want to enjoy some of it, i know BP is a monster guitar player, but God help me, i can't get past the genre, it just bugs me to death.
*edit* i can listen to the Hellecasters, is that new country?
