NBA followers?

The NBA has been dead to me, as my team is no more. But there is talk of restarting the team, and things like this that I just saw posted on FB make me want to cheer for a team. How is your team this season!? Who is hot, who is not???

I see the Bulls are finally playing Doug McDermott, now that they've traded away a few players.

He's actually scoring pretty well for them. Imagine that, a great scorer in college actually scores points in the NBA when you finally decide to play him. Funny how that stuff works. He can't score if he's playing the bench :embarrassed:

Haven't given the NBA a second look in probably 20 years. It's not that I don't like basketball, but the sportiness has been long absent from the sport since the days of Jordan and Pippin (many say before).

It's a game played by super humans and genetic anomalies now. Technicians and specialists. Guys that can dunk from a standing still posture.

Most games are just scoring fests that come down to the last 30 seconds... 30 seconds that last 20 minutes and includes multiple commercial breaks. Whomever gets the last shot wins.

It makes the build up to that final half minute essentially moot, just a long opportunity to market shitty beer and expensive sneakers.

Then there's the players...

These guys make NFL players seem like responsible, well-adjusted pillars of the community a lot of the time. Meta World Peace? Are you fucking kidding me?

Makes Chad Ocho Cinco look like a humble saint.

Chatlotte Hornets.

I do like seeing Stephen Curry tearing it up. He attended Davidson College, small NC school, which defeated Duke while he was playing on Davidson's basketball team.

The Warriors are unreal. It's a great time to be a general NBA fan because the Warriors, Spurs, and Cavs are all great to watch. Being a fan of a specific team, if it's not one of those three, is a little less interesting. I'm a long-suffering Atlanta Hawks fan. They made the Eastern Conference Finals last year (for the first time ever) but have fallen off quite a bit since then. They didn't make any real moves at the trade deadline, but that seemed to be the case around the league. My gut tells me that most teams know they'er not going to beat the Warriors in a seven game series, so why bother making any big moves this year?

Ok, I will watch those thee teams, and da Bulls, because they're the Bulls. And Portland, due to memories of Clyde the Glide. The Jazz is the closest team to me at this point geographically, and I still have a hard time liking that team. Memories of Stockton/Malone run long, and I am a SuperSonics fan. (in case you couldn't tell).

I had looked at the standings and just could not get excited. There is a move on a local AM Seattle station to start broadcasting Trailblazers games, but it just seems wrong. Perhaps one of the efforts to bring the SuperSonics back will yield results, especially if combined with a hockey effort as suggested. Meanwhile, I will try to get informed a little about what is going on.

Here is a link to a good article about options for a venue for a reborn SuperSonics team. http://crosscut.com/2016/02/return-of-the-sonics-a-refresher-on-seattles-arena-options/

I personally would love to see a renovated Key Arena. It would be cool if they could do hockey there too. There is a lot going on down by CenturyLink stadium and Safeco fields already, and the marine industry and other industry oppose taking up more land down there. It would be cool to re-invigorate Seattle Center. But, it does not seem to be the American way to renovate. We shall see.

I think its funny that LaBron comes back to Cleveland and then suddenly he isn't the best player in the league anymore. Ah Cleveland sports, always getting the shaft and always good for a laugh. :embarrassed:

I'd like them to try and do that with a team anyone gives a shit about :embarrassed:
Happened to the SuperSonics, and many, many in that town cared a whole lot. A lot of people won't buy Starbucks coffee as a result of being mad at how Howard Schultz handled that whole thing. Now, if you are talking about people back east that don't care about western teams, well, that is another conversation.

Just because he isn't the MVP or the champ, doesn't mean that he isn't the best player in the league. Completely different.

Cool. Do you have any preferred teams? How are they doing? I am out of it at this point, other than last I looked, the Warriors had just finished a huge winning streak. Like over a month ago now. I have no idea how anyone is doing.

I'm a Knicks fan. Which means that I will never live to see a championship.

Yes. The Warriors are must-see basketball. The top teams in the league really are representative of the most exciting players.
