So, a rich beef stew with celery and onions.
And a salad with bleu cheese dressing.

I live near a dive bar called Cigars and Stripes in Berwyn, IL. It's on Ogden Avenue about a block east of Oak Park Avenue. The serve awesome food. Occasionally they make Italian beef from scratch.

They smoke the beef. The gravy and giardiniera are home made using peppers grown on the rooftop garden. After the beef is smoked and sliced paper thin, they make the gravy and serve it on bread from Damato's bakery in Chicago. I've had Italian beef all over Chicago. This is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had.
