Let's remember some GJ guys

I recall the battle was Uma vs. Frank Price (?)

yep, Frank put in a great effort. Uma didn't even try and opted to record some non musical wanking as an awkward joke. Then, to my surprise, instead of defiantly defending his act he was shamed off the forum for a while. It was weirdly dramatic. He had some decent surf guitar recordings he had shared, and I was really hoping to hear a surf version of Eruption, as unlikely as that was to occur. His online persona was deflated in one single action.

Yeah, Uma really scored an own goal with that one. Before that Uma had posted some really nice spaghetti western/surf guitar instrumentals (his project name was The Dead Ranch Hands), so there was an expectation that Uma might surprise us all with a reimagined surfy take on 'Eruption', which would have been really cool.

Frank gave us a very credible 'Eruption', and then Uma dropped his awkward 'joke' noise.

I honestly thought Uma was going to do a Quigley Down Under and surprise us.

Instead he brought a featherduster to a gunfight.

Frank Prince, who is still with us. Bless his sweet fusiony ass.

Frank Prince, Last-Known Survivor of the Losing Side of the War Against Music.

He’s like Mussolini’s reformed nephew who hangs out at the pub and is well-liked by his fellow dart league members there in spite of the fact that he rarely offers to buy the next round.

Yeah, that was vexing. He roped an, uh, friend of mine into PMing back and forth about it and my friend suggested he deliver something—even if just a surf version of the Benny Hill theme as a better gag than pure noise. Alas.

mormon gent from exurban Chicago who lived in nova and socal and went by MTC at another place whose original name I can't remember.

He’s fairly active on Facebook and an obsessive Words with Friends player. He’s also a super commenter at Stereogum.

The Floydian?
you probably saw my initial post before I edited. I wrote 'the guy from Alabama, I think he was into The Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd"....the second I wrote Pink Floyd I suddenly remembered his name 'oh yeah, THE FLOYDIAN"
