That fat bitch needs to do some writing and not have Peter Dinklage defend his annoyingly distracted face.

Honestly, his writing isn't that great, but I'm invested in some of the characters and want to find out who gets to ride the friggin' dragons and whether Snow survives.

I'll differentiate and betwix our posts...you mentioned "good", but my slight referred to "great". So I'll say he's a good writer in that I've become invested in some of his characters. "Great" writers get me completely invested in the story and the characters are merely vehicles for the plot. Obviously that's what most writers either are or should be going for, but it's not an easy thing to achieve.

His writing plods along quite frequently, making the arduous journey of Frodo and Sam seem like a lively frolic, and he perseverates on aspects of his story that don't interest me. Again, with a great writer I wouldn't even think about these things.

I think the scope of the work has stumbled even him. I'm guessing he's lost the thread of some characters and/or they are continually evolving to the point that he's not really been sure how it will end. The show potentially pacing the books (his choice from everything I've seen) might focus him and help finish the books. He might, however, let them evolve differently as Kirkman has done with the Walking Dead comic and the show. Despite its origins, the Walking Dead show has become something different from the books and equally enjoyable, all with Kirkman's approval and input.

Oh, I've read it, but it didn't end conclusively. There's magic in both the fire and ice that may come to play as well as poorly trained folks that tried to...well, you know...that may not have truly completed the task.

Also, he's not a Stark, I'm pretty sure of that, despite it having nothing to do with anything.
