is there no love for neck-thru guitars??

Sigh!

i've been bringing my guitars to the same guy for 18 years, and now i teach guitar at his music school. it plays beautifully, but i think i might be at the point where i want somebody with that pixie dust magic. i just don't want to pay for it. those guys are insanely expensive around here.

Yeah, this guy who did the work on my Soloist is a world renowned luthier, he was telling me stories of setting up Holdsworth's guitars at one point, said he was really shy and didn't want people except the luthier watching him play.

Talked about DiMeola, McLaughlin, Prince, some other "names". It was expensive but I considered it a "day at the spa" for a valued guitar and I also considered it less than buying an entire new axe (under $300).

Not all of his services were mega expensive but the guitars he was selling that he built himself were works of art, I didn't ask how much those were!

What I was amazed by was just how much more dialed in he got it. I wondered if all of my guitars would benefit from that level of luthiery.

I can set up a guitar myself, but the difference in a setup I do and the type of setup this guy can do was the difference between Gomer Pyle and Picasso.
