I haven't been to HC in a while but..,

i think they achieved what they wanted.

bass forum is the same way. there's no-one there. they chased out all the riffraff, aired the place out, and have all new members who talk about on-topic stuff like basses and amps.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

F+%K that noise.

I think it has an official affiliation with but is no longer owned by GC. I think it's run by this Dendy guy out of his own home server and he gets a stipend from them. I've got no facts to support that but there's little vibe that there's a parent company at the helm.

Well, "at the helm" is a relative term when discussing GC/MF. They might be executing their plan perfectly...but the plan sucked.

I visited HC about a month ago and all I could find was folks bitching about, "where did the good old days go and why is it dead on it's ass". Given its history I'm amazed that some still have to ask that question.

I actually don't know why! Sorry. It was THE guitar forum. Not sure why some lame OS would change that.

I pokey around every few days. The problem is that there's no interesting content. There's a few new threads but they're boring as fuck.

Nobody has been to HC in a while, brah.

No lie, Bwana. I just checked HCEG for the first time in months -- about a half dozen threads with posts dated today. There are threads last updated two days ago on the front page...

TGP occasionally has interesting stuff to report. But it's like going to high school, if you don't obey peer pressure and fall into line they look at you like you're a lobster with four heads. It's not pretty.

I get tired of being "wrong" all the time.

The common thread in all these forums is the guitar and related gear are largely the object of table talk versus actually playing music.

When I discovered HC in the Fall of 2003 I joined with the thought that it was a place to get in tight with seasoned players and hear some stuff. Not so. I soon learned it was mostly talking the talk of hodaddies. Hasn't changed, either.

HC was the premier site for that kind of gathering. Everyone quietly outed each other over time. The lack of cite membership musical credibility gave purpose to forming cliques and it fed upon itself from there. Hell, it had a good run.

I very vaguely remember getting locked out of HC on one of the updates whilst I was full of homebrewed wine out in Saudi Arabia which is how I ended up here and like most children - it's been a happy mistake.

I do remember (why considering it was mainly US politics that had no bearing on me or my life) getting REALLY (as in properly agitated) annoyed about stuff on the political forum which I'm glad I now don't have to deal with and Herr Wein discourages on the super happy people messaging place forums super time.:embarrassed:
