Hot or Not: Vogele Tele

A guy I've known since high school is a local musician and has been turning out some pretty amazing instruments lately. He usually gigs with one of his Parker Fly guitars, so I wasn't sure what to expect when he started making tele shaped guitars.... pretty interesting details.

Despite the thinness of the body, it's chambered between the flamed back and bent maple top.

he used carbon fiber for the control plate surfaces.

The neck is flamed, roasted maple and his signature "V" on the headstock is cut out all the way through.

... oh and there's no truss rod. Just a carbon fiber D-tube through the center of the neck.

The guitar plays really nice and is maybe 6 pounds.

I would like some normal pics, but it looks pretty cool. I don't dig the gold and the flame is a little too much for me. Give me some chrome and less flame and I'd rock it.

WOW!!! Now, THAT is a take on a Tele I think is spectacular! :thu:

Can the neck still be adjusted somehow?

There are places where flame is appropriate, and that is one. Everything on that guitar is working together to make quite an attractive whole.

It doesn't look terrible, but I tend to prefer telecaster style guitars without flamed/natural finishes.

True, but given the extreme contouring, the controls, bridge, etc. that guitar has little in common with a tele except the outline! I am normally not a big fan of th glitz either, but it just seems to work well here. Either that, or perhaps I'm getting a bit more "Liberace-ish" in my old age (after all, I just did get a koa-topped tele-shaped Godin!)

That is awesome. I would have to be sold myself on the lack of truss rod though I'm sure with a carbon rod of that size it will not move anywhere. Just what if I want a bit more bow?
