Stereo and Wet/Dry rigs

Help!I'maRock!

Mediocringly Derivative
I've had at least one stereo pedal for years.

The Foxrox Paradox TZF is Mono input, stereo output.
The Eventide Pitchfactor is stereo ins and outs.
The ZOOM MS70CDR has stereo ins and outs but sums everything internally to mono.

With my amps back up and running for the first time in 3 years, I thought I would look at either a wet/dry rig or a stereo rig for home use. So I plugged my BOSS LS-2 into the front ends of my Mesa Subway Rocket and Allen Encore, turned them on, and before I played a note, heard the ground loop.

It seems there are two ways to go with this.

Run everything in mono and switch between two amps using something like the Radial Twin City A/B/Y pedal. It has ground lift and phase switches. Anything I want in the Mesa's effects loop would be solely for the Mesa.

Take the stereo outs from the last pedal going into both front ends and use a Radial Shotgun. It has stereo ins, four outputs, and the same ground lift and phase switches as the Twin City. However, there is no switch.

There is no pedal I can find that allows me stereo ins and the ability to switch between two amps. Be interesting to see where this goes, if anywhere.

I've used a Radial Shotgun as a splitter to run wet dry.
Works great, but its both amps all the time, unless you walk over and turn one off or switch it to standby.
Haven't tried stereo, I don't own any stereo pedals.
I suppose I could run different delays/ reverbs into each side, but that would negate the cool effect of the wet/dry.

If you are running a stereo setup, why do you need to switch amps? Shouldn't they both be on all the time?

If you want/need to switch, you could get the Radial thing, take the outs and throw them into your LS-2 for the switch. Lehle makes some switches that will do what you want (I think) but no ground loop or phase switch.

The question here is, do I want stereo or wet/dry? They're two completely different setups. Either way, I need to solve the ground loop issue.

The LS2 works great for any combination of A and B. It doesn't do Y. Lehle, to me, is just more expensive Radial for reasons I won't use, like midi.

But they do have a switch that is stereo in/out and has switching.

Thanks. I didn't see the second input on that one. The question is whether this is worth $350 to me. I don't think it is.

Would the EQD Swiss Things get you what you want? That thing confuses me, but that means it may be exactly what you need

It does A/B/Y which is good. Has a phase switch which is good. Does not appear to have a ground lift. I think that's essential so it's disqualified. Good try though.

I found the weakness in the Lehle SGOS battle station, @Chad.

1 This jack is for the mono input signal. The signal is automatically present on Outputs A and B when the Lehle Dual SGoS is deenergized. The signal is present only on Output B or T if the input jack (2) is also in use.
2 The signal from this input jack is routed to Output A only. Stereo signals can thus be switched separately to Outputs A and B.
3 This is the output for an instrument tuner or a third amp. This output is not electrically isolated from B! A hum loop may occur as a result of the ground connection between Output B and T if Output T is used for an amplifier. A transformer for electrical isolation (e.g., the Lehle P-Split) can be interposed to eliminate the hum loop.

So I think the next step is to make boards for each amp with what I already have, and see where that takes me.

So seeing as I pretty much have boards for each amp, though I am swapping back and forth as between stuff I have to see what pedal goes where, I guess the answer, should I want to go down this road, for me is the Twin City?

So you're looking for a switchable A/B/Y box with a ground lift? I might like to have something like that too. I have several pedals that do stereo but I've never tried it out. I've used a stereo rig in the past, at home, and it's such a lovely way to play.

Is there someone on the forum that could build such a thing? I'd consider ordering one if the price is reasonable.

I mentioned the Twin City in the OP. I’m not sold on the Orange without the ground switch. The hum eliminator seems to be rig dependent.

I just built a B.Y.O.C. A/B/Y pedal from the kit, and it has a ground lift. BYOC doesn't stock them anymore, but I found a company in Canada that sells them (I think they may have bought up BYOC's inventory). Works great, and was ~$75 with the painted enclosure.

Axe... is my friend Scott. He (well a contractor) does all the pre-built stuff for BYOC. I was considering it, but I want the buffer and phase switch the Radial Twin City has. That said, let me know how it turns out for you.

The switcher works fine. I don't notice a ground loop, so it sounds the same with the ground lift switch on or off. I'm using it to go to a clean SS fender on B and a champ clone on A. It was easy to build (though the directions are a bit spotty in places), good quality parts, and the extra $10 for the painted housing is worth the $. So I am quite happy with it.
