Question: Your favorite Chorus pedal these days and why?

I want it to be able to do lush, I want it to be able to have a vibrato-ish sound, I think I tend to like darker and deeper sounds better than more treble, I think I like round sounds better than square or pyramid. I tend to like my Small Clone a lot and would love a little more control over it.

I am trying a used Emperor from JHS I found, based kinda on the Arion SCH-1, which came from the CE-2. And I may end up keeping it and my old Small Clone I got cheap. I am going to sell my CE-5.

But still interested in what you guys like. I guess I am a chorus guy, and like some of the 80’s sounds, such as The Church, The Police, etc. (probably a bit brighter?), and then really like sounds like The Pumpkins, Cobain, etc. (darker?).

I have a couple emulations in my Line6 M9 also, and tend to go back to the Analog, which digital emulation I think is aimed at either the CE-1 or CE-2. (EDIT: CE-1).

Sounds like you want an old Arion sch. I like the Analogman, (its based on a small clone) and the TC Electronic Chorus. I've also used the CE-1 emulation in that double wide Boss floor unit (I forgot the model). Its really good but the rest of the emulations suck. But the ultimate is the ADA STD1 stereo chorus. Its got an amazing amount of control but its rare, pricey and a rack unit.

I have been messing with the Emperor some, though I have not had time this week as I had a trial. It is pretty dang cool and I am enjoying it. About the only thing I want that I can’t find in it yet is the really wet, gooey Small Clone swishy thing. And I have that Small Clone I got cheap, so I can just keep that around for when I want that I guess.

Mine has that big pop that the small clones can tend to have when you first turn it on if you forget to power it on while the signal chain is silenced by the tuner for example. And the adjustments are pretty much from 0 to 60 with not much in between. But it does have that sound I enjoy messing around with in my 80s/90s vibe I tend to like to hang out in.

Yeah, what is that clone pop all about? Mine does that as well and you'd think that would be something EHX would not let out the door.

I miss the specific sounds my Dimension made, but my strymon Deco makes for a great chorus pedal and does 6 or 7 other things extremely well to boot.

Usually its just static build up in the switch. Stepping on the switch a few times, after you power it up each time, will get rid of it.
Interesting. Yes, that does the track and it is very dry and there is quite a lot of static you’re at times. Just curious why this particular pedal and it’s switch does that.
