Steve Ferris from Mister Mister is from Fremont, Nebraska. He is a badass, of course.
Louis Metoyer is an LA studio guitarist originally from Omaha who has recorded for a ton of big names including Bobby Brown, Belinda Carlisle, Terence Trent D'Arby, Stanley Clarke, and Macy Gray. I used to see him cover Hendrix tunes when I was 19. I performed in church a few months ago with his sister, who is a great singer.
Billy Rogers was a phenomenal jazz guitarist from Omaha. He was a little before my time in town so I never encountered him, but have played with lots of guys who knew him. He filled Larry Carlton's spot in the Jazz Crusaders when Larry left. Unfortunately, he was a junkie and died of an overdose in the late 80s. Amazing player.
Dave Stryker is a prominent NY jazz guitarist orginally from Omaha who played with Brother Jack McDuff and Stanley Turrentine early in his career and then has done a ton of solo work. He has also done a lot of recordings and other work for Jamey Abersold. He was a protege of Billy Rogers' and was principal in putting Billy's album together posthumously. Another great player.
