Your Bankruptcy Is a Wonderland: John Mayer May Get Stiffed on Amp Sale

Supposedly, dumble was living on Jbs estate when the amp for him was built per Internet lore

With that said, this is what we believe to be true.

Alexander Dumble was living on Jackson Browne’s property during the time that this amp was constructed for Browne (In fact, the original wooden channel switching footswitch still bears his name). The amp was originally constructed as an OD-100WR and it has most certainly been modified and updated over the years. The current owner speculates that these updates were made because it was close by and a convenient “guinea pig” for Mr. Dumble to try out new circuit design ideas.

Here's the listing

Might be a different amp then. The links not working for me but I heard my story in 1993 or 94

Captioned picture found Googling Howard Dumble.

Front butts ahoy.

I'm starting a new line of "tribute" amps to be built in China under the name "Fumble." $299.

I’m surprised this hasn’t happened already. Ibanez makes amps with a tube screamer built in; why doesn’t somebody just make an amp with a Dumble OD circuit built in?

Because when people actually her one in person, they're all "WTF?" That sounds like shit.
The only reason we want it is because we can't have it.
(Some exaggeration may be present to illustrate a point.)

The Jackson Browne amp is actually a great example of how much of a dick Howard Dumble is. A guy that @El Borrachito went to USC with named Jeff Troxel (IIRC) ordered the amp in the early 90's and was given a 2 year wait time and he had to pay the $5500 up front. Since Howard has the "don't pester me" ruled he waited until over two years had gone by to call about the amp to find out that Jackson Browne must have been in the shop and liked it so Dumble sold it to him and Jeff went to the back of the list again. I never did hear how the story ended. El Borrachito probably remembers the details better than I do.

Never heard the end to the story, but it probably ended up with Jeff getting screwed.

Must also be said that, while the WSJ has gone to shit since the Murdoch/News Corp buyout, the use of the word 'soulful' in this article is especially disgraceful, and shows a total contempt for journalistic practices. I thought I was reading a really terrible Onion article.

Yes, "soulful crooner" is a bit of a stretch to describe the musician in question.

Hold your horses, young man! The photo caption goes out of its way to clarify that the Baltimore Arena is in fact in Baltimore, thus living up to the finest tradition of fact-checked objective American journalism.
