You have $1000 to spend on a tube amp. What are you buying?

My instinct is to go with something Im familiar with like a Princeton or Deluxe Reverb, or some old tank of a Peavey.
But I'd be tempted to try some other flavor. Maybe a Marshall DSL40 or Vox AC 15 w/Celestion Blue?

I'd see if I could find $200 more and buy a Supro Amulet, or perhaps a used Comet if I could find one.

I just want one of those little 1-5W guys that I can crank till it growls.

I have like 5 of those (and 2 100-watt Marshall heads that I’ll probably never use again). Those little tube heads are cheap and fantastic in the studio. The Blackheart 3/5 watt head is a personal favorite

If this is a desert island thing with a $1000 gift card from Guitar Amps International for one amp only, then I’d go with a Princeton.

But I already have a Princeton.

I don’t really need an Option B here, though. Though I guess I’d be happy to hear suggestions.

Stereo?

Probably one of them tone master solid-state fender amps, that came out a little while ago. My friend has the deluxe reverb version, and it is ridiculously light, and I saw him playing it live, and it sounded like the real deal at least to my ears.

Edit: just realized you said tube amp specifically, never mind!
Those are extremely tube like sounding from what I’ve heard so far. I’ve been itching for one for a while. I really want to play one.
